Steely Dan The Royal Scam
Voto:
Steely Dan are one of those bands that force you to convert from vinyl to CD: the crystalline quality of the sounds, the perfection of the arrangements, cry out for justice every time the abused vinyl spins on the turntable. For "Pretzel Logic" and "Aja" I had to do it; it was sonic murder (sonicidio?). This still endures, black and scratched...

Gab, everything you say is true, but maybe because I got to know them with that one, I prefer Dj Kicks, an even more heterogeneous mix, if I'm not mistaken. It's been a while since I've listened to either, let alone the other. The '90s... is that what you're saying? I'm afraid I wouldn't know what to say to aliens. - They treated the latest Tosca not very well, but I don’t mind it at all. What do you think?
René Aubry Invités Sur La Terre
Voto:
Well, he has been composing music for theatrical pieces and films for quite some time, and it’s rather amusing to think that he is the one carrying on Yann Tiersen's legacy, considering that when Aubry started collaborating with Carlson, Tiersen was 8 years old. I also find the definition of "contemporary avant-garde" rather bold; we are facing an excellent craftsman who meticulously carves out little scenes where various references converge, and as you rightly say, "every single note is attended to with scrupulousness." I also believe that this album perfectly condenses a compositional ability and a skill in arrangements that are always clear and functional, definitively mature.

Maybe the authoritative figure that Grass is referring to isn't really you, Ajeje :) In fact, quite a bit of the press hasn't commented too enthusiastically about 'sto disco... Anyway, I'll end up listening to it, one way or another. Maybe we'll talk about it later.

Beautiful page, Jim. The samples that can be heard on their website seem to confirm your words. If you're interested in this type of approach to tradition, I allow myself to recommend (among others, there are really many valid groups in Italy) an album from about ten years ago, "Saracenia," by La Moresca - Dunya Records - Rdc 5033 cd. Bai bai

And now, a few words about YOUR personal impression upon listening, regarding the type of instruments and pieces, etc., can't you share them at all? Saying "bullshit" doesn’t seem like the right term: it’s just about having a little chat, right?

You’re strong, Aristarco. How did you discover him, the Cilio?

Rocky has a point. But it's inevitable, with the amount of things circulating from everywhere and in every format and given the very short lifespan of the recs on the homepage. But as you can see, it's not uncommon to read them even two months later. Listening to the samples is intriguing...
