It is already difficult to choose the ten albums of the year, let alone the one of a decade. If I were abducted by hostile aliens and tortured with the ultimate question: "What is the most representative album of the '90s?" I would answer: The K&D Sessions. A double album exploded from the added minds of two outsiders in a state of grace. A decisive point in a musical comeback for the Vienna-Berlin Axis. An electro-domestic artifact with sophisticated design.

The K&D Sessions. Because it condenses and sublimates the styles of the decade. Drum'n'bass. Trip Hop. Downtempo. Because it retains memory of the roots. Funky, Black, and Hip Hop. Because it offers aquatic grooves scented with jazz.
The K&D Sessions. Because the magical alchemy sounds solid and unrepeatable. Thanks to the glue manipulated by the duo. Dub in the wild state, free from reggae clichés. Plump and sensuous dub, whose hypnotic proceeding imposes the rhythm within the work. The K&D Sessions.
Because it is a total compound of real remixes. In the decade where the art of cut-and-paste reaches its peak. Where the DJ is the artist. And everyone dreams of becoming one. Where deck sales surpass those of guitars.
The K&D Sessions. Because those revisited are excellent sources. From the Eighties: Bomb The Bass and Depeche Mode. And from the Nineties: Roni Size, Lamb, and David Holmes, among others. Because the arrangements improve on the originals. Because the first disc arouses wonder. And the second, dark and magnetic, invites to n listens. And reveals surprises and secrets with every journey. Because it sounds deep and timeless. And even Martians might dance to it. Wherever they are headed. The K&D Sessions.

It's my answer. What do you say, do I save my hide?

The sound of the CD has an impressive three-dimensionality.

Buy it even if it’s already a few years old (it’s from 2000).
