Blues has always been part of her, not just in the covers but also in the spirit with which she has “reinterpreted” pop songs in the past. Here she’s more focused on songwriting and occasionally shifts towards a more “pop” side. But the covers of Blind and Dixon tend to confirm the roots that cannot be severed. In the mentioned albums, her voice was often supported by essential arrangements that brought it to the forefront; here, at times, it is less deep, cavernous, more “light.” Perhaps the samples can give an idea...

I don't remember this, but I still have the Hole vinyl, although I haven't listened to it in ages. I also read enthusiastic reviews among the comments: I remember that during those years it was very prolific, and there was a certain oddity in his compositional obsession, which, if I'm not mistaken, he also adopted different names.
