A beautiful album. "Les Pas Du Chat Noir" revealed a talent to me; this not only confirms it but, in its further essence, enhances it. The ensemble is an unpredictable and miraculous combination. A perfect review, also for the swift and effective history of the oud (a magical instrument) and the necessary mention of Rabih Abou-Khalil. Thank you, Hal. Also for being so quick, preventing me from daring a verbose attempt :)

R.E.M. Fables Of The Reconstruction

Well, there is some truth to it, even though the reviewer is too drastic (for me it's a 3.5). NickGhostDrake is only partially right: Boyd did everything he could, but he himself stated that he was not satisfied with his work, that he forced the production, distorting it. And that the freshness of the first two records was magical and it was a mistake to disrupt it. I believe that Murmur is a kind of miracle (I listened to it as soon as it came out and it sounds the same to me even now: the first real album (the first EP was very raw) and so many tracks of that level, that personality, that maturity and compositional originality... If an old wolf of the recording studios like Boyd thought so...

Come on, Pippo, even Partch has her excuses; after all, that man is a kind of epic. - I know very well you're not joking; I even heard you snoring. But I repeat: I understand you. I'm not joking when I say that some of your work is a concentration of energy and communication. But you're a young guy, with all that adrenaline circulating. What should I do, mimic a style that isn’t mine? I've sent other messages these days. Quite verbose. But the next round, if there is one, I’ll commit to a strict diet. - Did you fall asleep again? :)
Eels With Strings - Live At Town Hall

The Eels are a nebula, to me. Because of that discontinuity. But this version intrigues me; I truly believe it should be congenial to him. And reading you, it seems like it is... Why haven't you thrown in any samples? (what a drag, this campaign, right?:))
Colin James Hay Looking For Jack

Old enough to remember them. Even though, being among all those who listened to it, I wasn't one of those who bought the first one. Nor the subsequent ones. But reading this account, so inspired and driven by a true passion, evokes not only the pleasure of reading but also a curiosity I never imagined I would have. I will try to get it back. (looking for Colin)

There was a mix-up in the communication: Latomanciano is the name of the reviewer, and I speculated on some similarities/doublings with the other one, the prolific and pyrotechnic LatoB... - But thinking about it a bit, even your 5 for the album surprised me.

I don't doubt Socrates' dancing skills, but I'm a bit more surprised that Left-Handed appreciates B.J.'s circus enough to give it a straight 5. But maybe the left-hander isn't the B, even if some similarities appear. Here, I don't find the deviations from the norm that are typical there (the norm appearing only after a tightrope-like gaze from the reader) - For me, this is worth a 4, the page a 5 anyway, 'how beautiful it is indeed.

Oh...I sent a review (too long) of the same record this morning. Unlike you, I had absolutely no idea about the two, so I appreciate the amount of information I find there.

Amalteo, I know your love for Nina Simone, but I wouldn't draw frankly implausible parallels. I don't know if you're familiar with the two records mentioned; there, falling in love was almost automatic. This, as I was saying, is a kind of new beginning. And lovers, as I suggested in the text, hardly accept their partner's turns right away.
