It's curious what happens when reading old reviews sometimes. The magic mechanism that governs Debaser now reveals and uncovers multiple identities, linking various comments back to the nick that was hidden behind many other nicks or anonymity at the time. This happens in more than one case, and I've been surprised by some unexpected associations. It reminded me of how fun it was for me when it exposed the pathetic duplicity of a DeUtente (who, by the way, was quite valid and is appreciated by everyone here) who hasn't been around for quite some time. A little less fun was, back then, probably coming off as paranoid or worse, a defamer. But when instead of the fake nick, years later, reopening that page for notifications of new comments, the stripped-down nick of the little vile con artist appeared—someone everyone believed (and still believes) to be friendly and correct—it was truly an priceless surprise.

I happily notice that today I posted comments worthy of a rather sour old shoe. It’s been a while since that happened; I must have skipped therapy again this morning. But I feel better, as long as I don’t take it too seriously... I think I’ll keep going.
Emmanuel Carrère L' avversario

For me, his best, without a doubt (the movie is good too). But I’m not convinced by him, the entirety of his work, often his writing. What @[Pinhead] says about that kind of talent is true, but in his case, it emerges here and there, often devoured by the author’s boundless ego. And even the quality of the writing is often disappointing. Limonov, for example, read just after its release, is "picturesque" and sycophantic, reading it is a waste of time or at best an occasionally curious entertainment.

Well, with all due understanding for the effort, it doesn't seem to add anything new or even personal to what has already been written by the MANY you refer to, except for an excess of rhetoric that I suppose comes from sincere passion. In return, in your page (and I have verified it to be a constant), there is no breath. That is, one of the qualities, even "sonorous," of this wonderful album is missing: the air, the relaxation, and the space between the sounds, that sense of concrete yet magical naturalness that is literally breathed in while listening to it. A few line breaks and some spacing every now and then would help a bit. - P.S. I noticed you are a new DeUtente, but already quite prolific: I imagine it might sound off-key after the comment, but please accept a sincere welcome. - P.S. 2 my peaty scotch is Lagavulin.

You managed to make me read something about D'Avena. And until the end. Chapeau Ingrandisci questa immagine
The theory of titles and names from the '70s/'80s in the realm of cartoon themes unsettled me a bit: you young intellectuals have frequented worlds that we old folks viewed from afar as frivolities for girls (please accept this blunt honesty without taking offense). And yet, it seems like you’ve grown up much better...

I was about to vote when I read Macaco's post. Better to repeat it, out loud: LET NO ONE VOTE, AT THIS MOMENT THE RECE HAS A DERANGO EQUAL TO 6.66, NOTHING MORE APPROPRIATE FOR EVANGELIZING!
Billy Bragg & Joe Henry Shine A Light

I haven't heard this yet; I'll listen to it tonight because I remembered Joe Henry and looked up what he has been up to, and discovered this record as well, so now I'm downloading it. There's a nice review by Hal on "Scar," and that's where I "discovered" it. I imagine that in the meantime you have come across that album, so it probably seems unnecessary to point out its exquisite quality (just take a look at the lineup). But Madonna's brother-in-law is, in my opinion, a true master as a producer. The quality and distinction of the sounds, the balance between them, and the feeling of space and depth are really a hallmark. - I also need to listen to the latest one, (Thrum, 2017) that I'm downloading. If any passerby is interested, it's available here: Joe Henry – Thrum (2017) [MP3] - download free - Mediafire, Torrent, Zippyshare, Rapidgator « Plixid.com | Bringing music to life
