...The true indissoluble marriage is the one with your children (I have three, the oldest plays with my band); you can't divorce from them. I manage to stay calm even when they ask me: "Hey dad, can you get me a couple of tickets for the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert?". - Nice, the interview in the link posted by Morningstar...

Kosmo, is it really you asking such questions? Have you ever heard of "DePlaylist, sto ascoltando"...? Today, for example, I was listening to R. Wyatt :)) - So, as soon as I uploaded it, I'll link it here and there (right now I was extracting the files from a solo piano album by Paul Bley, just released by ECM, thinking it might be a nice gesture for Amalteo and Hal... and maybe even for you).

Ghemison, to give you an idea, take a look at Gabbox's review: if I remember correctly, he describes it perfectly (and Zion is right, this is maybe more straightforward than "More Songs.."). My pusher got it for me not too long ago - For Torn: I'm glad you liked it. The gentleman is one of those who sets a category of his own. - If you're interested, I can upload what I was listening to again yesterday, by Closer Musik. You might like it (not at the level of these, but enjoyable). Minimal electronics in the structure of the tracks, quite dark, slightly "uneasy" with some "sung" pieces. If you tell me yes between tonight and tomorrow, I'll do it and post the link here.

P.S. Record of the day (besides the new one by Robert Wyatt coming out in October) Paul Bley - Solo in Mondsee (ECM - 2007) Classy, a bit tamed, but crystal clear. (4/4.5)

Well, if you set the few lines on such definitive evaluations, it’s certainly possible to be taken aback, right? And anyway, "nothing" is my assertion, it doesn't seem like anyone else has claimed it. Was it a "maiestatis?" :)) And then the rest is not just news, in the rest there are your opinions (and I believe there is a difference between the two): "in this album, he remains confined to the role of accompanist of the skilled soloists listed above" and then the closing remark: it’s your way of describing certain tracks, your opinion on the matter (which excludes, as per your premise) the quality of their writing, of the arrangement (the bassist, lacking "particular composer's or arranger's talents," signs all the tracks, right?) It doesn't seem to me that this is news... And I wouldn't make it a matter of ratings; everyone has their own tastes. It happens, as I said, to have diametrically opposed opinions. As long as it’s possible to express them, I might do so. I hope it doesn't always sound like a personal attack, as it sometimes seems to be understood from the reactions... Bai

@mien_mo_man: for a while, there were rumors of a flirtation between Michel Stipe and Marchant. They even recorded some things together. The Fleurs de Mal became friends with Stipe and partners, having been guests in Sicily a few times. So in fact, there was a kind of "twinning" at that time.. - @Ghemison: of course, if you expected some dub from Pylon, you must have been disappointed. You have to consider how personal their proposal was back then and their ability to create rather quirky but highly effective melodic lines... - @Supersoul: I believe that old wolf Joe Boyd produced only one R.E.M. album, "Fables of..." (and he himself admitted to being disappointed with the result. I agree with him: a good album, with excellent production, but it betrayed the freshness and peculiarities of their sound, which Boyd admitted he was unable to highlight).

Well, Supersoul (it’s quite common these days) those who don't know the album have a thousand other places to find a "canonical review" (by the way, you can find one in DeB as well). Thank goodness (and to those who thought of this space) DeBaser lives on something else, granting itself further meanings. Among which is the possibility to suggest ideas, to imagine scenarios in which to place subjective impressions, the often uncertain outlines left by a listening experience. If the attempt is made in an "honest" way, without overwhelming the object with often pathetic literary attempts (especially when they hope to be "iconoclastic") but trying to convey a personal approach personally, well, it's much better than the brief summaries you find online or in magazines. Just my opinion, but it seems quite widespread. I would add fortunately: you know how tedious it is when certain pages always want to tell me everything, explain every little thing, establish rankings, and arrange alongside a group's production the entire history of "rock." Perhaps rewriting the same things for the hundredth time, which, indeed, you find in a thousand other posts. And on DeB, there are certainly similar examples - has it been understood that I like this page?

But no, what does it have to do with it, Supersoul: everyone knows Shiny H.P. The story goes back many years, I believe. When they were bands just starting out, in the same area, in the same circle. The confusion comes from Bjorky's joints and a phrase from Scaruffi (who doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, but on the other hand writes a lot).
