It's not a BeBaser for old people. So what am I doing here, then? CiaU, Super.
Quino Il Mondo Di Mafalda
Voto:
Mafalda reminds me of the feminists from the collectives in the '70s, and I believe my current lady liked her a lot too. I didn't really care for her back then; I'm not sure if I would change my mind today. But you gave me an idea for a little surprise for my lady. Thanks.
Nino D'Angelo Il Ragù con la Guerra
Voto:
"Gioia Nova" was one of the best Italian albums of 2007, for me. Perhaps the best of all. So much so that I wrote to D'Angelo to congratulate him, and I discovered (but it was also clear from his music) that he is a great and sincere admirer of De André. I don't know this album; I will try to listen to it. - To those who would "be ashamed" or think of "the joke, the provocation," I ask how many and which Italian guitar-playing youngsters imitating other American or English boys to peddle their alternative banalities have half the dignity of someone like Nino D'Angelo, who will never deny his past productions but has turned his path for years now, renouncing a settled and secure success for a journey that is also economically mooooolto less profitable. It's funny how the more instruments we have to know, the more we live with prejudices.
Cannonball Adderley Cannonball's Bossa Nova
Voto:
Yes, Caravan, I liked this album, but I agree with your conclusion: it is undoubtedly rich in suggestions, it's a "cannibalismo musicale" (inteso alla brazileira) in reverse and worthy of attention, but it's not worth five stars.
Darrell Scott The Invisible Man
Voto:
Even too much. Will the album live up to it? I hope so.
Joe R. Lansdale Maneggiare con cura
Voto:
Well, what enthusiasm, Dr. Misogino. For a writer who is not misogynistic at all, by the way. A great craftsman, always enjoyable, but genius is something else, don't you think? 3.5/4, come on. And Cattedrale is up there, on another planet.
Gerhard Richter Party
Voto:
Look, Richter on DeBaser! And SEXYAJAX is writing about it. Funny stories... just a few days ago I was thinking of writing a little piece about it (I swear I'm not joking) and instead.. - Josi, if you're there, make some noise: Richter should appeal to you, considering your appreciation for his late (very late) epigone from Pinerolo... - In the vast and intricate production of R., this painting has never seemed worthy of particular attention to me. But it's very striking and certainly among his best-known works.
Frank Lloyd Wright Fallingwater (Casa Kaufmann)
Voto:
Great idea to expand to architecture, even better if instead of focusing on the "extraordinary" one could dedicate a look to the more "common": the cities we live in are all worth "reviewing"... Returning to the page in question, I wholeheartedly endorse PANAPP's post, including the vote (even if the vote in this case is even more amusing than for albums and films). And I want to emphasize Aalto, to whom I am devoted.
Marcel Duchamp Fontana
Voto:
No, O__O, we understood perfectly well, but the catchphrase doesn’t work precisely because the term is incorrect. Accuracy and appropriateness of the terms used is fundamental in an operation like the one you wanted to propose. (But if you prefer to force the meaning and decide that it's others who haven't understood, that's fine too, I don't really care.) The wordplay used by B.Eno in the example I posted works perfectly (which I recommend you read, at this point) when he defines his "action" towards Duchamp's fountain as "re-orinating" in critical contrast to the term “dis-ordering” that had been abused during the conference he attended. I’m going to pee, bye.
