I had missed this page. I'm glad you decided to write about it.
Paul Weller Wake Up the Nation
Voto:
The most linear of Mr. WoodooMiles's pages, but quick and condensed, just how I like it. I have an irrational idiosyncrasy towards Weller and I will glide over that as well, I've come to terms with it (although a 20-year warranty, 20 years less for a "youngster" like me would already be quite an incentive.....)
Horace Silver Silver's Serenade

@ Kosmo: True, but if I understood the request correctly, they will like Bohren & Der Club Of Gore (and that seems like a good thing, right?). Of course, with Kind Of Blue, you’re more introductory, and jazz is full of albums that sound nocturnal, smoky, melancholic, sad, and dark, but few are so throughout their duration with all those characteristics together. I can't think of even one, not even KOB fits that bill. The one by B. D.C.O.G. is a bit more so, even though it’s not exactly jazz. - Nice link to Roland Kirk, I’d never seen it before... CiaU

@ALE9T0: yes, even though it can't exactly be called jazz, I believe HELL's suggestion is perfect. Other titles by the same group as well. (http://wehavenozen.blogspot.com/2008/03/bohren-der-club-of-gore-x4.html)

I don't know this album. I have quite a few of Silver's works (and besides the famous "Songs For My Father," I recommend the excellent "Cape Verdean Blues" - check out the magnificent page, like all of his, on Symbad: The Cape Verdean Blues - The Horace Silver Quintet plus J.J. Johnson - Recensione di Symbad_Bassist I'll sample this one shortly. Thanks.
Balaclavas Roman Holiday
Voto:
Ah, you finally wrote. Nice style, jagged and swift. Now I’ll give the balaclavas a try (even though the minestrone seems, at first glance, to have somewhat dichotomous ingredients). Cheers.
Robert Miles Dreamland

True, ZION, but the good album, the one worth listening to, is "Miles-Gurtu" (http://musicshare1.blogspot.com/2007/11/robertmiles-trilok-gurtu-miles-gurtu.html) from 2004, if I’m not mistaken, the one COOLERMASTER talks about in post 16. In that album, besides the two (who complement each other perfectly) and with a perfect attention to sound, there are Toshinori Kondo, Nitin Sawhney, Jon Thorne... Another kind of music, a pleasant surprise. (recommended) Bye, cumpà.

Ah how good you are, Nes. You’ve entertained me, I want to thank you. Thank you.
Giovanni Allevi Alien

I take a look in DeB and almost all 5 screens of the latest comments are dedicated to Allevi... Not even he would have expected it. 5 regardless (to Allevi, to his press officers, to whoever you like)
