Lisa Germano Lullaby for Liquid Pig

I wanted to emphasize that Germano, who is almost ignored by the public, is called upon as an instrumentalist or collaborator by a lot of groups, Eels, Calexico, Mellencamp, to name just a few that come to mind, as a testament to her great value. I have very little of eco, beautiful tracks, and I have only heard Bailiff mentioned, does she resemble Germano? For genre lovers, and for those I believe are few who didn’t know her, I think that a kindred spirit in some ways to Germano is Cat Power, although I prefer my Lisetta. But I definitely recommend Moon Pix and You Are Free. Curiosity, Eddie "pancia" Vedder sings beautifully on Evolution by Power, and then he goes around with a band that also has Germano on violin. In short, the backgrounds of the two are definitely similar.
Brian May Back To The Light

I've only heard a couple of songs from the album, but "Last Horizon" is just plain boring. If you like that stuff, go for Satriani (I'm not a fan, but you probably are). But why do they mention Brian May as if he has some incredible technique? In my opinion, technically (and I'm not making any other argument) he's really mediocre, not mediocre like Slash, who is still decent, but just plain mediocre. There are billions of guitarists from unknown bands who are worth twelve Brian Mays combined, without even bringing up the virtuosos. Mystery of faith. Who knows.
Afterhours Germi

The afters are neither praised nor blamed. I had this discussion with someone the other day;-) but when he's being sarcastic, Agnelli is great, like in the live performance "siam tre piccoli porcellin," or the more psychedelic one from quello che non c'è. When he gets all sentimental or introspective, he loses a lot of points for me (I only save Milano circonvallazione esterna in that sense). I don't like Dentro Marylin. Better "Sui giovani d'oggi ci scatarro su." But the best Italian band, for crying out loud, even though I have the utmost respect for Agnelli's great musical culture.

I'm not very objective when it comes to Lisetta. She's my favorite singer-songwriter, and there's no Joni Mitchell that can compare. She's an amazing multi-instrumentalist, playing guitars, mandolins, piano, violin, and other things, all with great grace. I also really enjoyed the album; it's a record to listen to when it snows(?). Listening to Lisa means learning the concept of "intimacy" in music. Nobody's playing, Paper Doll, and Pearls are beautiful, and From a Shell is already a classic in her repertoire for me. For the other (very few) fans of Germano, here's a video from KCRW, link rotto a half-hour live session where she presents the album. If you have Net Transport or similar programs, feel free to download it to your PC. And if you don't get moved watching it, you're brutes.

However, Franchino is a comic genius, even if unintentional. Truly a genius of laughter. Of course, we laugh at him and not with him, but I care about him. I spent hours with friends enjoying tacky techno just to savor his gems.

Yes, I can imagine your curiosity :) I confess something to you, Trell... that I had left out. At one point, I had fallen asleep :), so I missed part of it, but it wasn't the movie's fault; it was a bit late (a bit too late). However, the film is very captivating; I'll get it on DVD sooner or later. I would have recorded it, but 7 hours and more on a VHS tape just won't fit ;)

I've finally read it :) Great review, which I agree with, and "masked ball" is a truly evocative piece. When it comes to cinema, we have almost opposite tastes, at least regarding slow films. Never, ever watch a Tarkovsky movie :)

no, it's true, Fareri beats him, he's as flat as a flat electroencephalogram when he's playing. The most monstrous technique in the world at the service of nothing. But even Cooley has more "feeling" (what a big word) than Malmsteen, and that says it all.

Um, I, who have criticized Zappa, know him pretty well... it's not enough to play with Zappa to become a genius; a lot of talented people have passed through Zappa's bands, and then they ended up making terrible albums. Zappa made some bad records too, of course. For me, Malmsteen is absolutely the guitarist with the least feeling and expressiveness in the world.
