Lisa Germano On The Way Down From The Moon Palace

The instrumentals on this album are stunning, real gems, with the title track and "Dark Irie" standing out above all. "The Other One" is beautiful as well. Lisa is always great. Fun fact: "Bike" has a melody that is exactly "Floyd" from the commercial album by The Residents :))

But what does it mean that the forms are classic: the arrangements are extremely refined. Perhaps the most enjoyable double album I've heard in a long time. Thirty-three songs full of poetry; the length didn't weigh on me at all. A few lows, I don't like Hey man, it's a bit too sweet. Many gems: Son of a bitch, Suicide life, In the Yard, Dust of ages, I'm going to stop, Ugly love, The star shine, things the grandchildren, and the beautiful and melancholic theme of blinking lights. Well, criticizing this album because it sounds familiar and appreciating De Andrè (as I read somewhere) who didn't invent anything seems contradictory to me. Can you tell me which singer-songwriter albums you like, Punisher?

Why am I feeling out of mood? And to think I had some tracks in mind when I wrote those pairings... they came to me more for atmospheric affinity rather than musical. For example, I was thinking of certain things by Steve Roach when it comes to new age. Since you seem extremely knowledgeable, whom would you associate him with? I'm curious.

I agree with the shady character above. What is this, the festival of the perfect review today?
Glenn Branca The Ascension

it depends on what you've tasted... in fact they alone are much more expansive, closer to shoegaze, while in hash jar tempo (and especially in that piece) they are more rhythmic and obsessive (a bit like Sister Ray). And you have to get Ascension, it's mind-blowing, to put it in technical terms.

Francis, tell me you have to review Jo squillo singing "Violentami sul metrò," please.

I don’t know him, do you think he deserves it?

Well done Eneaccio, excellent point. Tycho Brahe, beautiful, absolutely. But so unknown, come on, many people talk about him. Same with Timewind, great album. I'm left with curiosity about the association with the surrealists...

Yes, but apart from the subject that I also know little about, the quality of John's reviews is always top-notch. Then, with Ecm, I have a love-hate relationship; I have to find myself at the right moment :)

I put it on for the first time because the review inspired me. First impression, beautiful. Second thing to say, Hal, I think you would really like it, it reminds me right off the bat of Garbarek (without sax, of course), and some new age (in an absolutely positive sense). And to think I was expecting a Kraut record. Third thing, perfect review.
