In my opinion, the comparison between Mertens and Reich doesn't hold up; Reich is several kilometers ahead. Mertens is pleasant to listen to, but the substance is what it is. Reich is a thick flow of magma shooting ideas left and right. Honestly, I see the soul in Reich, whose mathematical quality seems to me like a nature in constant evolution. Reich's music is alive; damn, I put on Mertens to indulge my mental exercises.
