I'll beat you all: I've been in Belgium since 2005, and who knows when I'll leave. I've been to Brugge several times, but I can only give you a tourist impression, since I live on the other side of Flanders. What I've noticed about the Flemish is that it's very important for them that you communicate in their language - once you get past that barrier, bit by bit, they open up.
