At the time of the documentary, they were (and I found them) quite dreadful, and by their own admission ("we were afraid of not pleasing people," Damon Albarn declared years later in an interview). Only when they started not to care about others' expectations did they create decent music, with the untitled album from 1997 remaining their best work.

"The piece is characterized as a blues-influenced progression for female voice and acoustic guitar" but what? The piece is a parish folk tune, neither infamous (and above all, without praise), with a singer who has a very basic approach and often gets lost badly on the low tones. In short, it fully deserves the oblivion to which it is destined. Happy Easter and please don’t come back to write, not about this, for Heaven's sake.
