From what I know, Jeffrey Lee Pierce died from a brain hemorrhage, more related to alcohol abuse than to heroin... as for the rest, good review, I would have also mentioned Haw and Heel on The Shovel as indicative tracks of the mood of this album.

I watched the last video you linked (I Lived My Life To Stand In The Shadow Of Your Heart: great title, among other things): really a nice sound, crazy guitarist just the way I like it, I will definitely look them up. Great review, you should write more of them!
