Alfredo from Birthday party, I have a vague memory of prayers on fire and nick the stripper. I have the beast of bourbon somewhere. It's definitely a continent I still need to explore.

Of Australians, I only know Radio Birdman. Great page, you piqued my interest.

A greeting also to the last two participants, in particular to Don, prey to nostalgia (rascal?).

Review written with the attitude of a strict teacher with a red pen, reminiscent of De Amicis. As usual: Bukowski gets on your nerves (and you’re not too thrilled that he is beloved on this site, whatever that means); you talk about Faulkner (who, among other things, I don’t know) and introduce him in your own way as “alcoholic, used to frequenting brothels”; you throw in Kerouac just to trash him, along with the usual tirades against nihilism and relativism; and it has nothing to do with the fact that (I quote from one of your comments) “women are not forgiven for being not to say intelligent, but for stepping outside the stereotype of the hen or the good-for-nothing.” Your review – with not-so-hidden “missionary” intentions – feels like a mockery towards those who read you. Just so you know, you’re not exactly explaining catechism to elementary school kids.

Wow, someone who remembers them. Five just for this, and for making me go back to the scorching summer of 1997 (I wonder why past summers always seem the hottest, in hindsight). I remember very well the calmness of Gray Parade, and the (wonderful) pop of I Like Rain, and a Flex with guitars played almost in a trance. Ah, I almost forgot: I even had the double cassette :-)
