I downloaded the album from the internet out of curiosity, since several people had spoken highly of it. After a first listen, the first comparison that came to mind was with Neil Young, but I'm not sure how accurate that is (probably not much). "Velvet Waltz" was the song that struck me the most on my first listen.

For me, the best album released in 2005; from the discography of the eels, just slightly below Electro-Shock Blues. The review is also very nice.

thanks easy, I was forgetting the Replacements (I listened to Let it be and Sorry but), and I didn't like them either ;) With Sonic Youth you're opening a door that's already been opened, and the same goes for Dinosaur Jr (though I've only heard where you been). I've never listened to the Flaming Lips, and from what little I've heard (yoshimi battles the pink robots) they seemed a bit too psychedelic for my tastes (but do you realize is a great song).
