The Afghan Whigs Do to the Beast

a record that doesn't live up to its glorious past (one disappointment above all, aside from the songwriting, is the choice of certain sounds, especially the drums, limp as a fig) and all in all I don't think it could have been otherwise. However, I add that live (a couple of years ago in Brussels) the intensity and voice of Dulli are still there; maybe it's because they played almost the entire Black Love and nearly all of Gentlemen. In short, it's worth going to the concert, which I would only avoid for the anonymous songs from the new album. Obligatory greetings to Don!

never explored in depth, I take note of the advice so I can get an idea. The place is called democrazy (http://www.democrazy.be) maybe I'll keep an eye on it since I've never been there. Nice reads on the homepage lately, spring has improved the quality of the reviews.

listened to and quickly shoved into the "terrible" category.

I listened to the album and I didn't like it; as an excuse, I'm abroad and I'm not used to singing in Italian anymore. The funny thing is, from some casual readings on various music blogs, I thought they were generally appreciated. I come here to Debasio and discover that everyone thinks they suck. Three cheers to the reviewer and greetings to everyone, this page could become spakkaosssa with a little effort.

Hi Silas, I felt it was necessary to especially remember an "instinctive" album like they don’t make anymore (and in the meantime everyone is applauding the double album by Arcade Fire... oh well). Josh T Pearson's solo album gives me the impression of being equally extreme in its own way; is it worth a listen? I'm quite curious.

I'm listening to it, it's just that apart from the first two tracks it seemed quite anonymous to me. I'm giving this album a few more listens, but for now I can't grasp its complexity.

I've been feeling it these days; the first listens left me with excellent impressions: the addition of synths and the guitars seem much more aggressive. Much harder than the previous album, which I found a bit lackluster for my tastes. There are a couple of tracks that will make anyone happy to see them live. In short, it looks promising; it had been a long time since I listened to an Italian album like this.

truly a great loss.
