You see, dear Orpheus, I not only believe that you are not familiar with David Sylvian, but I am also convinced that every artist (of course, I'm talking about great artists) is aware of what will happen once they have given birth to their works. But every artist, regardless of their discipline, is aware that their works will live on only if there is talk about them, if there are discussions, if there are detractors or admirers. Therefore, if a work sparks discussion, even in very heated tones, that's welcome because it makes it less likely to fall into oblivion within a few weeks and, even just out of curiosity, it might be sold. Participating in de-baser is for me a source of enjoyment, not a profession. However, I will tell you what I have told others. FOR MY TASTE, AND THEREFORE FROM A STRICTLY PERSONAL POINT OF VIEW, THIS ALBUM IS TOO CEREBRAL AND I DON'T LIKE IT. The quote from Zazou is taken verbatim (I didn't change a single comma) from an interview he gave to Claudio Chianura for Materiali Sonori. In this review, the theme was Sylvian, not Zazou, so why should I have talked about him?... Can you satisfy my curiosity? How do you know so surely that I didn't understand "what" Sylvian wanted to say? Have you ever invited me to dinner to discuss it? Did I, by any chance, contest the content of the lyrics? If "de gustibus non disputandum est" is a valid parameter, then tastes are subjective and, as such, cannot be contested. They can only be disagreed with. In this case, you simply do not share them. I acknowledge this, I accept it, and I do not argue about it, but that does not mean I understand more or less... don't you think?
