I bought this album 10 years ago and listened to it for 5 consecutive years. Carnival is Over still manages to expose emotions and scents that I still don't quite understand where they come from, a bit like they are mine but actually only belong to me fleetingly, like the blurry images of dreams, drowned in a reality that you only experience when you're over there, on the other side...
Like Hal, I no longer listen to the Dead and sometimes I wonder what happened after Spiritchaser, because as soon as they split up, all of their albums, while beautiful, lost the magical power they had always held over me until that moment.

For me, this is the most beautiful album by Pink Floyd, and it was less fortunate at the time precisely because Animal Farm by Orwell was the inspiring source. Beautiful review.

You really are great. "But there’s also a version of 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood' by Santa Esmeralda. It’s extremely long, perhaps too much. After 8 minutes, even the most dormant murderous instincts are triggered. The original tracks are performed by RZA, who had already honed his skills on samurai themes with Jim Jarmusch’s 'Ghost Dog.' Between the tracks, occasionally, there’s a dialogue from the film, and I have to say it fits quite well with the overall experience."
