On this occasion, the Covers gave me just a tiny bit more annoyance because they were combined with "fuck you to who knows what but deep down I know." If they wanted to tell someone to fuck off, then names and surnames please, not little symbols and runes and all the bullshit that the dreamy Apiccì love so much. PS I love you even more than before, kosmo :D

It's not JUST about the covers, that's the bare minimum, in fact, it's nothing at all. I didn't explain myself well despite the wall of posts :). It's the abstract symbolism that bothers me the most. If you talk about your mental issues like usual, that's fine, go ahead with your metaphors and symbols. But if you want to discuss real, tangible things, if you want to take a stand against something (an ideal) or someone, speak clearly. I don't know, maybe I’ve done too much rap where people name names and hurl a thousand insults, and then name names again, but pointing fingers at a nebulous, undefined target, like these APC do, doesn't sit well with me. And maybe it's also because whenever someone bothers me, I've always been clear about it, and maybe it's also because I’ve been cultivating explicit violence for two hours a day since I was 13, and maybe it’s also because I’ve read too many books on the philosophy of honorable combat, but this “I say but I don't say” thing makes me angry. If I were against the covers, I wouldn’t say it's a beautiful album, and I reiterate, it's a great album. And then I, who have a poster as big as the Great Wall of China of Zack de la Rocha in my room, should just shut up, because even RATM did them. But indeed, the covers have their meaning. And I also greatly revere Tool, and Salival contains the covers, but I like it—who cares if I like it? They improved No Quarter a hundred times over. Of course, Renegades was made because Zack was about to leave for the future Audiomerdaslave project, and there wasn't time or synergy to make a new album. Salival came out because people wanted Tool videos, but there were too few to justify a DVD, so they included the covers too. But that doesn't change the fact that they are covers, and I like them.

Patty, this is not a music magazine, it’s a lair of hungry dudes thirsty for some action. I’m the self-elected president. You should join the contenders for the throne too, don’t worry, Satisfaction Guaranteed, check it out and proceeeeed... and continue... to rock the mic...

Well, if you like 13th Step, it’s normal that you wouldn’t like this; in fact, for me, it’s the opposite, I’m not fond of 13. :) Too Gay, too sappy, better this one, cold as ice and precise and different from expectations. If they had delivered the complete awesomeness by eliminating the nonsense around it, it would have been a top-notch product, instead, it’s just a top-notch file on the PC. :)

Look at Maynardo's starting point, and see how it ended up... ended up worse than the "Buddy" who was flipping the bird in Hooker With A Penis... now he's got the Vans and the 501s, but where's the consistency? He left it at his mom's house (RIP), the one next to Mama Morello’s... I think so, it's definitely in some drawer there. (I'm writing in bullet points because I don’t know what the maximum character limit is; by the way, Gì, could you tell us what the Max character allowed is... neeeh?)

They’ve shown what they are, a bunch of pretentious jerks, completely absorbed by the system and the desire for money, WAY more than the people they point fingers at. Much more, assholes. GREAT CD THOUGH, GREAT CD, REALLY NICE, I’ve already listened to it 30 times, I enjoy it without overthinking, but if we’re talking about them as people, then it’s crap on every front, and Billy Howerdel Gay Forever And Ever And Evere Togheter. Worse than Fernando from ABBA.

I get really pissed off by half-assed things. They wanted to make a damn CD and sell it? Hell, go ahead, do whatever you want, but if you're throwing in ideals of peace and crap, then confront them, don’t just slap on a couple of decadent symbols and two signs. If you want to act like someone who's engaged and knows how the world works, then go all the way, don’t be a halfway pretentious jerk making metaphors with my symbols. Squeeze your harvest, Alien Vs Predator.

I don't think they spent that much time covering that stuff; we're talking about artists, not Caparezza, they know where to put their hands, they probably took about 2 months, and they sell it at the exact same price as an unreleased CD. They could have done a thousand things, they did half, that really bothers me, just that. It's not that they lack connections; Maynard was Tom Morello's neighbor, aka the president of Axis Of Justice, if they wanted, they could have done a lot, even just with one album. They point fingers at people who fall asleep, but they did the exact same thing. They can act as cool as they want, but they're just as clueless as the others, on that side. From a business perspective, I bow to them; they'll make money without stepping on anyone's toes. And I wanted to finish with a "who cares." :)

I’ll start by saying that I logically haven’t seen the inner cover, and I don’t go to their website, so yes, you’re right, and I agree with them too. I’m not at all about Peace & Love & flowers, not at all. I had understood even before that this thing wasn’t about Peace & Love; I know Maynard well. It annoys me, first of all, that they did it with a COVER album. If you want to express an ideal, given that you’re not a bunch of clueless idiots – I mean, Howerdel was producing ALBUMS when I was riding my bike. Maynard and various other guys, all people with guts, and they make a cover album. Secondly, if you want to take action, do it; don’t just make your freaking cover and that’s it. You have the means to do it, heavy ones too; something a little less "arcane" and straightforward, right? The point is that they’ve taken a step this way and another that way; those who know them understand one thing, and those who DON’T know them understand another. Many affectionate girls listen to APC, A LOT of affectionate Peace & Love girls who buy their CD. With covers, you’re saying almost nothing; you’re quoting others, not openly declaring yourself. It makes me angry that they took a half-step; that’s what pisses me off, since you’re there, do it right. And it makes me even angrier that both the Peace & Love crowd and the non-Peace & Love crowd buy it. It makes me mad that from this half-step they will make three times what a regular cover album would make. It infuriates me that they were clever, and they’ll screw over many people without having done much at all.

However, Billy Howerdel is gay, that's not up for debate.
