With Snailking, their second full-length release, Ufomammut continue to blow minds with their own unique brand of psychedelic sludge. With long songs, droning vocals, and massive effects, Ufomammut stands alongside Neurosis, Sons of Otis, and Electric Wizard. Ufomammut is thick, swirling, punishing sludge—over-indulging in fuzz and psychedelics. This 8-song album represents the best in this subcategory of Stoner/Doom. Lots of guitar tracks, echoplex style delay, samples, and synth all the way through. A real moody trip from beginning to end. Snailking was recorded in the backwoods of Italy’s mountains over a period of 4 weeks. The band holed themselves up in seclusion and let the creativity flow! The result is monumental! Highly recommended!<---- Finished. Since I’m not the only idiot saying that they SPAAAAAAAAACCANO.

AMATEUR REVIEWS OF SNAILKING ---> Accolades for Snailking Full on psychedelia laced with enough doom to make you wonder: this is the album that Electric Wizard didn't make. Vocal sounds bordering on Filth Pig era Jourgenson (Ministry) meets Electric Wizard. The jams infused with slabs of mountainous riffage that start from the opening track and don't let up. The production is stunning and will leave your head spinning. The sounds wander aimlessly through your head, as the ultimate stoner doom album transcends the mind. This IS what stoner rock is all about, folks. Well worth the wait. //// c.troutman StonerRock.com Snailking’s 8 songs are about intertwining crushing noise and dead space. A riff can float off on its own, while another one builds up underneath the distortion. Impressive stuff, in the vein of Sons of Otis, Buried at Sea, or latter-day Electric Wizard. Their use of keyboards and sound samples (such as the Grim Reaper from Monty Python’s Meaning of Life) adds to the overall mood of the album. There’s not a wasted note, nor a weak track. They know when to ride the note, when to create a wall of sound, or when to layer the effects. It’s doom, it’s sludge, it’s full on metal. Like Yob’s releases, Snailking’s original and catchy work by a band worth keeping an eye on. Highly recommended. ///

But now that I remember, are Sunn O)))... Sunn O[lettera])))) or are they Sunn 0[ZERO])))? It’s a cosmic question that has tormented my existence for years... damn! However, since the three parentheses represent "the sound wave," it could be that the O is just the Marshall... God help me.

Hi Humax! Welcome back! If you wait another week, I should have the original copies of both Snailking (Ufomammuth 2004) and the latest EP by Goatsnake, which is super cool... at least we can do a more intense dooom exchange. I don't know if you know them (still in the same genre, it's rare to find, I got everything from stonerrock.com), I picked up Kahnate, Eyehategod, Burning Witch, and Sunn o)))... I'm in a demonic phase that's scary, I incinerate gentle maidens with a glance while walking through the city... WELCOME BACK AòH!

I don’t like these because they’re too punk… but damn, they’re way, way better than Interpol and Franz Ferdinand. I sent a rec where I say the same thing, but I swear, I didn’t copy. Also, if I really had to copy someone, I certainly wouldn’t copy a loser like you! :)))))) (just kidding, but it’s true I had a similar thought writing those SAME names, our karma is in sync; as soon as I figure out what karma is, I’ll let you know and we’ll get connected)

Psycho is definitely better than Snailking, I reviewed this one at random, even though I’ve known it for a while—I heard it the other night and jotted this down... I still need to shake off some stuff circulating since Christmas, maybe. Too bad Rocky isn't playing it; this is stuff for him... / I wanted to tell my sweet little Zeta and Cleo that I think this album will suck for both of them, (especially for Zzzzz, since he can’t stand even the Pink Floyd, let alone this...) and they’ll never find it anyway, it’s been out of print for years. I had it shipped to me after bugging them like crazy :D. Even Snailking sold out its copies in just 7 months; now you can only find the last ones on Stonerrock.com. In the scene, these guys are gods; it’s not that “they're good for being Italian,” they are REALLY GOOD AT WORLD-CLASS LEVELS, in the top three in their category, from everywhere (from everywhere that acid-doom is listened to, alright) people envy them. Also, I wanted to wish a speedy recovery to Vani's little nose, since even though I listen to these devilish records like black pepper in paper towels from childhood, I remain a softie, and it makes me sad to see a tele-babe like her in such precarious health. That’s it, I can send it now.

I didn't even know Galliano had disbanded... what a bummer. I like this stuff but I really have very little of it.
