Just to make you understand: this is a Hip Hop album. Your son listens to Rap. Probably even whack Rap, like all kids do.
Then it's a Hip Hop album that sounds dark, so it's a bit unusual even within its own scene, but not as unique or different as it might seem when compared to Rap (or even worse, to whack Rap).
I'm not saying that Hip Hop is better than Rap, on the contrary, honestly, life advice and sociological analyses have shaped my perspective after I turned 21/22.
PS I haven't heard this one, but unless he really banged his head hard, one Dalek album is the same as another (note that I wrote Dalek, so I'm not talking about Octopus).
