The participation in No New York, with Brian Eno involved, surely illuminated them with a certain alternative fame. Then, with the subsequent Off White, the coordinates shift toward a somewhat demonic disco music (but still quite enjoyable, in my opinion). By the way, does anyone know if No New York has been reissued and if it's available anywhere?

...indeed, Sonic Youth have always experimented with dissonance. Incapable of playing? Well...

No one is disrespecting Led Zeppelin; actually, I just wanted to propose a reflection on how we often prefer listening to things we already know. Certain sounds that today seem familiar and established might have sounded alien and disturbing 35 years ago; it seems important to me to consider certain events with a historical/critical perspective... or not?

Sorry for the discomfort, Katzenjammer, the reference to the Velvet was just to test your tolerance towards another group (much more historically established than Sonic Youth) dedicated to noise experimentation. But then again, the SY's experiments are also very much tied to the early 80s New York scene... if you want to listen to one of the absolute bests, get Daydream Nation (1988); a very "modern" sound but heavily indebted to the classics. I don't know if I should recommend them, it depends on your relationship with new wave, hardcore punk, the dissonant sounds of the Stooges, etc...

... you know that in '68 the blues purists despised Led Zeppelin because they said they made "only noise"? I think it's just a matter of sound habits, and tastes lived as an alibi...

Dear Katzenjammer, no one needs to explain to you what music the Sonic Youth is... It's the music itself that must speak to you, and if it says more to you than Led Zeppelin, feel free to listen to them. I would like to know what you think of the Velvet Underground...

The review is very commendable, well done Enea...
I admit I've always heard about the golden age of Dalla/Roversi, but I've never really engaged in serious listening (except for radio broadcasts). A good opportunity to get hold of it?

Such a masterpiece would have deserved a bit more effort... meanwhile, well done Antonino for filling the gap.
"Here there is a serene and clean sound" mmh are you sure?

Reconsideration on the remastering: I don't know what they did (because technically I don't understand a thing) but the 1999 edition of Raw Power by Iggy & The Stooges is absolutely spectacular and delivers a sound of absolute brutality. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll have to pick up the CD version of Ziggy Stardust the Motion Picture as well? I have the vinyl, which has never really convinced me that much (because I think the bootleg Ziggy Stardust live at Santa Monica 72 is superior)...
