Certainly, Odra, I didn't mention KRAFTWERK simply because I assumed their enormous influence on this work, and on any other sound that has come out of stereo speakers on this globe in the last 30 years. Amon Duul had an infinitely less significant impact (who has been influenced by a group of late German hippies hopelessly in love with acid rock and "indianate"?), but at least three of their albums are gems waiting to be rediscovered by any rock aficionado who strays from the mainstream.

The Eisturzende... but I always placed them in the past, considering their beginnings date back about twenty-five years. Among German bands, I've always admired that strange coldness too, often combined with melodies "that only they could conceive." Amon Duul 2 is a different story altogether, as they pour the wild and libertarian Californian spirit into the darkest forests... not exactly what KRFTWRK or Neu! were doing! But like Kosmogabri, don’t you enjoy the smell of leather and whips? You throw all the "rock" tinged with inquisition into the trash, from Velvet Underground down to Clock Dva??? OMNIA MALA MALIS :-)

First of all, I take part of the blame for only now noticing such a well-written review of one of my favorite punk bands (perhaps the ONLY punk band I've ever truly appreciated). I wouldn’t want to reopen tedious and useless discussions about rivalries between genres, but I have the impression that punk (and especially post-punk) needs a refreshing in the memory of many people. Just look at how many progressive reviews there are on this site... And to think I had the impression that the opposite was happening; that finally, after years of ostracism towards prog, which was blacklisted in the "lively" years by a pro-punk criticism, a genre that is too often unfairly denigrated was being reevaluated. Here it seems to me that this wave of pro-punkism has never really passed. Am I mistaken?

I don't know this live, but the review is very tasty... The Buzzcocks? immense ones from the first album, but maybe I prefer the second "love bites," along with that deadly collection of singles that is Single Going Steady.

"the greatest German group of all time" um, I have something to say about this too, but not regarding the present (which I honestly ignore) rather about the glorious 70s that saw Germany populated by a myriad of immense bands. One name for all? Amon Duul 2

I only have their second one, the beautiful Gold und Liebe. The one you reviewed I’ve only heard briefly, and I found it a bit less interesting than the following one, maybe because Der Mussolini was for years a real hit in the rock clubs I used to frequent a few years ago...

Is it possible that I have never found any reference to Howard Devoto's Magazine on Debaser (always in relation to post-punk that winks at Bowie and the Roxy)? A review is urgently needed...
