I got the album on a 3-for-2 offer and for a 3-for-2, I made a good deal—pleasant, nice, charming, very listenable for repeated times, but that's it; it doesn't say anything to me that I could consider a masterpiece.

I arrive late but I arrive, I had been circling around this album for a while until I found it in a magical 3X2 and so I snagged it! On first listen, I really liked it, but I will need to explore it more to be sure of the highest rating; for now, 4 seems fair to me.

But can you tell me once and for all why "the Bends" should be considered the best album by Radiohead? Is it because it has the most rock sound, because it's rougher, less arranged, or simply because it's the debut? In my opinion, one cannot remain attached to the old-school rock concept that albums are good only if they sound raw and that from the guitar comes that sound which helps to mosh and throw up "horns" to the sky with your hands. Even rock evolves (very slowly, unfortunately!), and indeed the RH have reached the concepts of Kid A/Amnesiac, and people like the CCCP now also do theater performances or Nick Cave and Lou Reed do readings.
