The one about W the wolf is really nice, I think I'll use it from now on too, even if it's a wish of bad luck that's no joke!!!

Of course, trelly, that like a skeleton in the closet, you should be ashamed almost as much as Andreotti! (no, maybe just a tad less) As for A-Ha, I save only the video of "Take on Me," which was a nice novelty for the style of those years.

Since last night until an hour ago, I listened on repeat, at least 4 times in a row, to the concert in Paris, overcome by an emotional trance that I rarely experience. To cool it down, I had to switch only now to a record by Bebel Gilberto, which is certainly not cold music. Now I open the beloved web and read the review of "Radiance," as if it were necessary! A timely review, perhaps even too pedantic in its focus on numbers and tracks, but still of good quality in describing the music. This album is missing from my collection, but I believe it will be preceded in purchase by many others, still sticking to the piano realm. Yesterday I listened to Pollini's latest work on Chopin and found it significant, just like its price (27¤!), which is why it has remained on its shelf.

For me, "parole d'amore scritte a macchina" is the most cerebral album of the "last" years by Paolo Conte, and it's also my favorite precisely for this reason and because it was the first vinyl I bought of the good Conte. It's interesting all this passionate exegesis of Conte's work.

Until a few months ago, there was no trace of Paolo Conte on these pages; now there are nine reviews. Is DeBaser changing? ...of course for the better! Under the stars of jazz and max, always my favorites of the lawyer.
Paolo Conte Live Arena di Verona
Voto:
In the Arena, the problem isn’t the acoustics, which are actually wonderful for such a large venue (15,000 seats); if you can hear an opera singer from anywhere, you’ll certainly hear someone with a microphone in hand. It's the mood that doesn’t translate well, too large for a jazz trio with a pianist from whom to catch every single note or whisper. It’s like watching a pianist from 100 meters away (in a place that is absolutely magical, I won’t deny that). If someone is willing to spend 80/90 euros for the front rows, that’s a different story!

Dearest Hal, I believe I have listened to Paolo Conte in many variations and situations, followed him at various concerts, and possess a range of his artistic material. At this point, I have formed my own personal opinion, and honestly, I don’t think there is an artistic need for yet another live album, especially one that includes almost all of his "classics". The commercial aspect is a different matter, which I do respect. Paolo Conte has demonstrated so much of his worth; artistically he has given a lot, and I was actually surprised that the last "Elegia" didn’t sound so "déjà vu" as I would have expected. However, objectively speaking, his live performances now reveal a voice that unfortunately is no longer “fresh,” and indeed, he has started to give more space to his musicians in concert. Lastly, jazz has never quite worked in the Arena; it didn’t with the Keith Jarrett Trio, nor with Pat Metheny, nor with Diana Krall. At that point, I swore that I would never go to listen to jazz in the Arena again, and I advise everyone else not to do so either.
Forgive me for the length.

I completely agree with you, there’s no need for yet another live by P.Conte. In fact, after having seen him several times, the most memorable being in Piazza San Marco in Venice, I avoided the concert in the Arena despite living in Verona. Conte is not an artist suited for the Arena; he needs an indoor theater or, if outdoors, a more intimate space. Jazz concerts at the Arena have never really worked!

I'm sure the review could have turned out even better for you, at least on par with the album, derivative or blatantly "trendy" it doesn't matter, it's a pleasure to listen to it, definitely not that original.

This review had slipped by me, just like this album; now that I've found the review, I will also look for the album. I really enjoy seeing that more and more people with musical tastes I can relate to are starting to circulate on DeB. A small note of pleasure: when jazz is discussed, the word "album" is always mentioned and never "CD." It may be a coincidence (and it isn't), but it sounds much nicer this way.
