First of all, let's try to bring some order to things: only the lack of knowledge about the true motivations behind Fontana's "gesture" makes his Cuts appear as provocations instead of what they truly represent—a overcoming of the two-dimensionality of the canvas.
As for the discourse on melody, I refer to an enlightening definition by Tullio de Mauro: melody is the fundamental element of musical language that pertains to various sounds of variable pitch, which, starting from a motif and regulated by rhythm, succeed one another progressively within a unitary structure, in such a way as to form a phrase or an aria with a defined expressive value. Musical composition or performance, whether vocal or instrumental, considered independently of harmonic accompaniment.
Therefore, your definition of the absence of melody fails because it is unsustainable. A different discussion can be made regarding harmony.
Regarding your thesis on originality and artistic validity, you are making an argument that is too solely guided by your taste, while it is clear that artistic value is recognized by a multitude of factors that have nothing to do with subjective taste but rather concern the representativeness of the time in which they are expressed. You should more correctly say: "I don’t like this, or it disgusts me; I wouldn’t know if it has absolute artistic value or not"... a matter of critical correctness.

For me, and I emphasize for me, but as I see it also for others, the creative peak of the Cocteau Twins. The album is well described by this review that fully evokes all its atmospheres, and for me, it is also connected to strong feelings from a time that was twenty years ago.

This, among many, is an album I miss... perhaps as much as I miss Fosca!

An essential reference album, undoubtedly from the golden era of Brazilian music, but even today, interesting projects continue to emerge from that incredible part of the world.

Beautiful review of timeless music; just to switch things up, I read it while listening to the Blind Boys of Alabama in the background. Unfortunately, in the realm of indie music, black music has always found a limited space for its few admirers.

This is an album that I ruined back in those years from the number of times I played it on the turntable. Fantastic and still moving in the memories is their concert at the Cesena sports hall when they played these songs from start to finish. One of my "generational" albums.

I only bought this record a couple of days ago, and who knows how much I'll have aged by the time I forget about it! Great review.

It's all very beautiful and interesting, but what a struggle to get to the end, with mental gymnastics, personal squabbles, and minimal concepts!
