I didn’t get the one about 4AD Vana, what do you mean? ... Anyway, I agree with you that record labels primarily think about their revenue, etc. etc. but what I'm not convinced about is that all (all) artists, musicians, performers, etc. bend to the laws of the market. There are indeed many who do, but there's also a segment that records and arranges independently. Among these, if there's an arrangement, it's made in mutual agreement, in a musical elective symbiosis (recent example, O'Rourke's arrangements on the new Sonic Youth). In other words, the concept of "work done at the table" cannot be absolutist. That record labels can be leeches, perhaps they can be, but that all (all) artists are puppets, no..... p.s. on PJ's latest album there is no arrangement. She herself says so: there are no arrangements. She played everything and recorded it all at her home, then Ellis added his drum and percussion parts, and finally Head mixed it. The result is what we have in our hands today. Raw and unrefined. It was released by Island, worth noting.

I don't completely agree with this last statement, which might apply to the majors where, as we know, they treat artists like puppets. However, I want to highlight some independent record labels that give artists the freedom they deserve, such as Dischord, 4AD, XL Recordings, Sanctuary (the one that released Morrissey's new album: he waited three years, but in the end, he found the label that published the record without changing a single note), Anti, I Am mentioned by Easy, City Slang, Matador, Jagjaguwar, Morr, Touch&Go, and so on, without even mentioning all the labels that focus on experimental electronic music, and so forth. Yes, it's true, there's a crisis; yes, it's true, there are no more funds; yes, today there's downloading, but it's just as true that the public isn't that stupid (are we Debaser fans?) and rewards (by buying records) quality. Take Jagjaguwar, for instance; listen to the latest Oneida album; everything is there, except for the radio hit. I could say the same about the latest Mclusky, or the latest Sophia, or the new Mission of Burma... but here we are talking about the Cure, a legend, with a six-figure revenue. So what about Bjork or PJ Harvey, just to cite two top-selling women? Try telling those two that if you add strings to their track XX, it would sell better on the radio... they’d laugh in your face!

I agree with Emily, although whenever I hear "Irish Blood, English Heart," I always crank up the volume! :)) For me, it's a great song; Moz is talking about himself, about a British person who is disappointed with the way things are going in his country (he's anti-Labour), and then - as Giò already mentioned - the voice! He's matured with his voice, for the better...

Masterpiece Vani, the part about PJ moves me deeply, just like the one about the Pixies :)) Well done, professional layout :)

Yes, you’re right damn it, ultimately. It’s not penetrating, it’s not catchy, and it doesn’t resonate... It lacks the hard-core!!! They’ve aged, damn it, they’re just wankers... mine was the last attempt to “justify them,” you know? :)
