Yes, that's right, in the press release that accompanies this (stunning) album it states that the girls did not know the songs before interpreting them. These young women were given lyrics and notes to perform according to their "virgin" sensitivity. They are very young, singing students... when they were recording these songs in their original version, some of them weren't even born yet. And that’s precisely what makes Nouvelle Vague enchanting. A naturalness, a clarity, a freshness that otherwise would not have been found. A lovely album that makes me crave piña coladas and pineapples, sand, 1960s sunglasses, and a sky-blue convertible...
