AA.VV. Music from the Motion Picture, Pulp Fiction
Voto:
Benzo, I shouldn’t be on the computer because I’m not feeling well, but I’ll reply anyway. Tarantino has stated multiple times, and Uma Thurman as well since they came up with the film together in large part (see the disclaimer in the end credits), that many songs (and I’m not just talking about Rza's contribution, which is only a part) were already chosen before writing the screenplay. As Hal already mentioned, Bang Bang for the opening and even the final track was already decided… I know because I checked after my statement was immediately countered by Hal (eheheheheh) here: A Quentin Tarantino Film - Kill Bill Vol. 1 - Original Soundtrack - AA.VV. - Recensione di Hal (watch out for the spaces). There I claimed that any DJ with guts could make a soundtrack like that, but Hal pointed out the connection between music and script. From my subsequent checks, I discovered that it’s true; some songs had been swirling in Tarantino’s head for years. He’s very good friends with Thurman. Even back in the Pulp Fiction days, they talked about it… I can already imagine him raving about a movie about a warrior, kung fu, westerns, Truffaut, samurai, and songs. A mishmash of ideas thrown together. Because that’s what Tarantino is, all of it together in a pot, music included, and then he brings out the best and makes it fit. ---- Benzo, art is not order; art makes you restless, dissatisfied, uneasy, there is no order, where there is art, there is chaos. In pre-established order, art dies, and a director doesn’t have to be JUST a director. If that were the case, as if art were a pre-established order, if everything had to be so organized, cataloged, labeled, we wouldn’t have Tarantino, and many, many, many others.

Well, you know, I'm not a big expert, but the other day I got a new phone because my beloved old one has passed away. And since they all come with polyphonic ringtones nowadays, I started looking for a decent tune. In short, on the portals that provide ringtones, you can find some real gems! Songs by Cave and Pink Floyd, even! It's all there. Impressive. Nowadays, money isn't made from records but from gadgets and live performances. For the first reason, I'm very skeptical (music as a promoter of gadgets or utility, just look at U2 and iTunes, or think about advertising jingles, and ringtones, not to mention the rest—music for video games? another very active market, many electronic stars are really into this field...). For the second reason, I'm more convinced. Live, the band has to prove their worth, and it seems that Bloc Party is solid. But the album doesn't convince me, you see. They're good, lively, and just fresh enough, but the new one from LCD Soundsystem grabs me more. If I have to choose between the two, I prefer the latter; it's more 'rock'n'raw.'

Those who have seen them live speak highly of them. But I'm not convinced... and I share Hal's doubt. I think that because of the hyper-consumer audience, today's bands are born to be consumed quickly. It's a vicious circle, classic of the record market. Nowadays, I feel the need to make a distinction: there are "ringtones" bands and there are those that are not. These belong to the first category, I think. Polyphonic ringtones are ruining the music industry! There’s no more religion. Success today is based on ringtones and advertising jingles... what a horror! -- North, did you know that this is your 2,500th review published? :)) congratulations!

Melvins & Lustmord Pigs Of The Roman Empire

Caz, Bean is a very common name of Scottish origin and it is given to children with very fair skin. Mr. Bean, for example, is named that for this very reason, because he is pale ... in every sense. Understand?

And what if I said that I scoffed at it? Wow. And now that I’ve read this magnificent review, I regret it. I need to make up for it!
