Beautiful review Alix... great first one! "... a great innovative ability tempered, however, by the grace that has always set him apart." Yes, it's true Bolan had grace. A rare gift. Welcome. :)

Ah, rereading your comment G_à... you know it's true that Tarantino pestered Miramax for at least a year to convince them to distribute Hero in the United States. This is certain information. Then the Miramax tycoons realized it's a profitable genre, and now both you and I can enjoy these movies in multiplexes, not in film clubs.

But G_à, I’m not talking about connoisseurs like you or Caz or a thousand others; I’m talking about a ‘certain Japanese cinema,’ the one about martial arts, and I’m talking about the mass of drunken audience (millions of white Americans above all, I’m especially talking about them, the rednecks). I’m talking about the merit of having really annoyed the big distribution for the redneck mass by proposing films that are definitely of better quality than theirs. You see, I think Tarantino is well aware that there are films more ‘right’ than his. He did it with blaxploitation; wasn’t Jackie Brown an attempt to reevaluate '70s black cinema? A failed attempt, let’s admit it (it's tough for rednecks to swallow black culture). I think he tried to do the same with Kill Bill, succeeding better; who knows why… maybe because of the protagonist – and not a floozy! ahem – white? I would say definitely yes. I’ll conclude for today: Tarantino is really a great jerk! :)

'that suit I wear to the first slut that arrives'… take it easy Teskio, huh? Uma is Uma, okay? Let’s not shoot the messenger just because she’s a woman, you gay little thing! :D Besides, it’s only thanks to Tarantino that we could see Hero in Western cinemas; he was the one who pushed Miramax to distribute it over here, helping to re-evaluate and rediscover a certain Japanese cinema. It’s no coincidence that House of Flying Daggers is successful today! So your comment that "it’s an insult to those who sweated over those films" seems rather unwarranted to me. Let’s give credit where credit is due. Okay, I’m off, I can't stay at the computer, kisses kisses.

I don't know much about cinema, Benzus; it might be as you say. And I don't know much about math either. Well, I can only say that if I had had Tarantino in math, maybe I would have made my parents despair less with my grades. ;))
