Today Is The Day Sadness Will Prevail

"In 1494, the young Swiss author Sebastian Brant published a small volume of allegorical verses in German entitled Das Narrenschiff, or The Ship of Fools. The book, which satirized the folly of society, was an immediate success also due to the iconographies that accompanied the text, many of which were created by the twenty-two-year-old Albrecht Durer. In one of these, the first after the frontispiece, the folly of the scholar is depicted. A man, in his study, surrounded by books. There are books everywhere: on the shelves, behind him, at the sides of the lectern, inside the cabinets of the furniture itself. The man wears a nightcap, a fool's hood hangs from his back, and he holds in his fist a feather duster with which he shooes away the flies that have come to settle on the books. A pair of glasses rests on his nose. He is the Buchernarr, the ā€œMadman of Books,ā€ the man whose folly consists of burying himself among the volumes. 'It is for an excellent reason – says Brandt's mad reader – that I am the first to board the ship. For me, the book is everything, even more precious than gold. I have here great treasures of which I understand not a word.'"

Enkrist, you have to explain this to me: is the album so overly sentimental that you had to counterbalance it with such a mishmash of clichés? Is that the intention? Does the sense of "Italians are good people" that comes through in this album irritate you? It's a bit of a twisted interpretation, though, which can easily lead to misunderstandings... I really can't endorse this review; I'm sorry, it's too... childish? I can't think of another term. To talk about the mafia, you need to know what you're talking about; you can't make absolutes. As for emigrants, I want to stand up for all that 'good people,' yes, really good people who went abroad to break their backs for a handful of salt. People who built skyscrapers, bridges, tunnels, railways (in the Gotthard, many lost their lives; every time I cross it, I think about it and get chills...). In short, people whom we should never be ashamed of.

A "nice" album ideal for listening in the car. But I don’t have a driver's license ;) I would also call it "the funniest of the ugliest." Very nice review Grass, as usual :))

Hello Aerith and welcome to this crazy cage. :) I really like the After, no doubt about it; they are a great band, with their ups and downs, and I’m sure they will give us more emotions, considering the new experiences they are about to face—all about school, development, sharing, interaction, and the desire to progress. Chapeau! In this sense, the After never disappoint. Enkriko, one question: how do you speak? What is it? You write such beautiful reviews, but some comments, sorry to say, are a bit cheap…

ohh, I don't understand a thing from the review (I'm not really focused today), but all it takes is to wait for the clarifying comment from caz, and everything will be fine. :)) While I have immense respect for Joni and the others, I want this DVD just to hear/see the eight minutes of Jaco!!! O__O
