In blues, it’s a bit like that; you have to honor the old sages, just like in the old days. Honor them and challenge them at the same time, a thing between men :) -- Cottie Stark and Pinetop Perkins! I know them well! They’re two amazing old-timers... Cottie, who is blind, even gave me a scare at a festival (I was the artists' babysitter): his companion Tim Duffy had vanished, and Cottie (who was supposed to play) had locked himself in his hotel room and wasn’t answering his phone or the door. Well, at that point - the pessimist that I am - I thought: this is it (he’s over seventy and in pretty bad shape). No, instead he was snoring, in his underwear, the TV on (he's blind!), a couple of roaches in the ashtray... ehhhehhhehh the old Cottie! (his manager Tim is someone who has dedicated his life to the blues, opening a foundation - musicmaker.org - that supports and revitalizes forgotten and needy old bluesmen like Cottie and Pinetops)... Meanwhile, Pinetops is a true gentleman, incredibly shy... sorry Hal for the long comment, but you’ve opened a Pandora's box - um:) - full of beautiful memories.

Very interesting conversation. One thing though, wouldn’t it have been better to develop it in the Deep Throat review? The catherine wheel is a very common type of firework (a wheel with various flames), whose name is "inspired" by the torture wheel of Saint Catherine of Alexandria... This is how the simple minds understand it as well; in fact, the title of the song you mention means "the colors fly and the fires spin." Moreover, I recall that dedicated to Saint Catherine, choreographer Twila Tharp created a very famous ballet, with beautiful music composed by David Byrne (title: The Catherine Wheel)... but I’m digressing. Great review, Bjorky, and a beautiful album.
