In my opinion, the most interesting part of the review, regardless of the hemp or no hemp issue, is this: "The fact remains that, in a no longer ethical State, anti-prohibition arguments come across as (contradictory but) of good residual sense, not dissimilar from what happened in the past with abortion. Since prohibiting it causes more harm than making it reasonably free, let’s make it free."

In England, it is already administered in hospitals and by prescription. It is legal. In Switzerland, they want to introduce it soon.

Another clarification: therapeutic THC is ONE cannabinoid, while raw hemp has over 60! Are we talking about therapeutic THC or joints?? Can you make a distinction? If a cancer patient smokes a joint as shown in the Dr. House episodes to relieve nausea, that's one thing, but if a patient with multiple sclerosis finds relief from a liquid THC derivative (this is therapeutic THC! liquid drops), that's something entirely different!

"On the premise that I find it ridiculous to pass off marijuana as medicine, 'medications' are another thing entirely and if THC, whether synthetically modified or not, were useful for something, it would (or is? I don't know) be used in some (real) medicine. Otherwise, I already have a slogan ready: 'Let’s all get high on morphine, which is also a very useful painkiller!' Indeed it is a powerful painkiller. My mother uses an opioid, so I assure you it is a potent analgesic and thank goodness for that. And thank goodness that in Italy there is discussion or it has just been introduced (I can’t remember now) to lower the threshold for the use of morphine derivatives or similar synthetics, which until now was only allowed in terminal cases and not for everyone."

"The money from the legal sale of cannabis goes into the state coffers." I would like to clarify: in truth, in the Netherlands both smoking and selling are punishable by law, but regarding cannabis, a gedoogbeleid (I hope that's spelled correctly) has been in place for years, a non-enforcement of the law - within certain limits on the quantities and psychoactive properties to be stored and sold in coffee shops - meaning a bending of the rules, approved by the government for anti-mafia reasons (and to avoid the contact of the smoker, who wants to procure something to smoke, with dealers of hard drugs for obvious reasons of "cultural contamination"), along with the advantage of collecting a sales tax to invest in social programs.
