@ Spaccamascella: oh, what a stickler... okay, I promise I’ll go back to Battiato, but then I want your flattering comments; @ Cool: Are you completely out of your mind...? You even commented on my review of Coccoluto, which by the way I was a bit harsh on... @ nonna Trell: yes, a choice that seems curious here, but it’s also true that with 200 reviews on Radiohead and 200 on R.E.M., often with double and triple reviews, one on a Venditti album can fit in... :) @ principesco (heh) Josi: those who don’t understand you...

Well, if we're discussing the character then we won't escape the maze of criticisms :) as for the music, I believe he has created atmospheres much more substantial than those of Antonacci or Ramazzotti... a step above in my opinion. What do you want to say, Trell? Completely normal choices :) welcome among my posts.

I find him a genuine and sincere singer, but then it depends on what leads one to be interested in a singer... it seems to me that I’ve understood you are interested in originality: for me it's an important aspect, but it's not everything. On the other hand, I believe that Venditti has his own originality, which is expressed in his personal retrieval of sensations and memories through the "name," as I wrote, a logic that is present not only in this album... P.S. = Because, gaucci doesn’t have any money? ;)

@ Josi rossoblu loser: I can't deny that he annoys me as well, and it's undeniable that he acts so full of himself that he even refuses interviews with Cucuzza... just to make a point. However, he has created some memorable tracks, and consequently some albums like this one. I also remember "Buona Domenica" from '79, where, among other things, there's one of the most beautiful and passionate songs by Venditti, which is "Modena," featuring the splendid sax of Gato Barbieri. This proves that I disagree with the judgment regarding the music, which is often well-crafted and well-executed (he can play the piano, for better or worse)... of course, I'm not the type to take out a lighter and wave it around while listening to "Notte prima degli Esami" with a polka dot handkerchief in hand...

Of course it's gothic! There's no doubt that it already distances itself from "Garlands" (see "Sugar Hiccup"), but the genre is there, just look at "Five Ten Fiftyfold", "In Our Angelhood", etc... unmistakable. The Bauhaus, as far as I know, aren’t entirely gothic either; they have explored other directions like the Cocteau, of course. However, I repeat, these first two albums, plus the first of the second one if we want to split hairs, are framed within the gothic. Ciaus

No Easy, I disagree. The problem is that generally speaking, Cocteau's work is known starting from '84 (Treasure), when Guthrie and company began exploring various musical experiments between dark wave, dream pop, pop rock, etc.: however, from '82 and '83 - the early years - we have the two major gothic works of the group: "Garlands" and "Head over Heels," which, it must be said, also move in a not overly fossilized musical territory. However, certainly in these cases there is nothing "ethereal" or "dreamy"; indeed, I plan to write a review soon... in the meantime, if you can, read my review on the Cocteau album from '88, "Blue Bell Knoll," where I reference the group's goth rock origins. Anyway, your objection is valid; the Twins are not known for these origins.

Indeed, Evanescence have little to do with gothic. I would like to understand why you referred to them in relation to this genre... as Zion says, we should refer to groups like Dead Can Dance and Elend; I would also add the Cocteau Twins among the major representatives and Siouxsie and the Banshees, even though the latter are more aligned with dark punk. I share Giubbo's opinion.
