Very good, you've been following him for ten years, well done! And I've been following him for half that time. Well, but the length of time one pays attention to something isn't always proportional to how much one can understand it. I don't know how long Borghezio has been in politics. Decades, I would say. But I would doubt his qualities.

There is no reason for the borderline definition between kraut and prog, because kraut can INCLUDE prog. It’s a matter of set theory: one set includes another; if you refer to kraut and prog in this way, it’s as if you were talking about different categories, while the reality is that the non-symmetric property applies: kraut can contain prog, but prog cannot contain kraut. Logical. And mathematical.

But then you're really clueless. :) The early Amon have prog-jazz-rock musicality (which are genres) and are part of the kraut-rock movement. Suicide have electro-industrial musicality (which are genres) and are part of the no wave movement. Is it so hard to understand? Shall I call the teacher? :D

I don't give a damn about trying to find some obviously heterogeneous genre; I'll miss it, but just imagine how much you miss Kraut-Rock to say there's a mood. I've never seen you comment on Schulze and his crew, so it's obvious you've overlooked them in your analysis. Of course, there are similarities between Can and Amon Duul II, but I was talking about Schulze and Amon; it wasn't a coincidence. Do you know Xhol? Listen to them too, see what mood you find. And who cares about prog? The point is: kraut movement, progressive genre. And you made an inaccuracy. End of discussion. And nonsense.

Damn, the Lycia on De-B, finally. I only have the stunning "A Day...", I wonder if this one has the same evocative power. The review is evocative, but since it's the first time the Lycia appears here, a little more explanatory writing could have been included.

Ah, my question was actually directed at you, not Cope. :) Look, this time I'm telling you straight: there's no point in wrapping the discussion in a series of meaningless words; you're stating inaccuracies. Kraut-Rock is a MOVEMENT, progressive is a MUSIC GENRE. No bullshit. Kraut, as a movement, is personally interpreted by different artists, and there's no mood that holds up: go compare Schulze's "Timewind" and Amon Düül II's "Phallus Dei" and see if you can find a common mood. They have nothing to do with each other. Schulze's mood was that of an artist experiencing hypnotic and meditative journeys in space, while Amon's was that of a post-'68 commune living off sexual metaphors, mockery, and tumultuous chaos. It's just one example to help you understand that mood has nothing to do with it. Progressive, as a genre, is recognizable and has its own mood. But forget it, come on.

What the hell is that distinction? What sense does the phrase "between kraut and progressive" make? Kraut, as a movement, includes prog; they’re not both musical genres. It's like saying "between mayonnaise and lemon." Or is Cope just spouting nonsense?

Excellent choice, Ghemison. Eno had been hanging around Berlin for a while, and it is undeniable that it is precisely from this work and from Discreet Music that our sound will feel the German cosmic influences: the ambient works have that main matrix. As for Tangerine Dream, Electronic Meditation is chronologically the most important, but of course, it is still an experimental work in which the TD, who would almost radically change their lineup within a year (Schulze and Schnitzler, two big names, would leave Froese in good company with another legend like Frank), are still searching for their sound: Alpha and Zeit already have the typical Tangerine sound. From Phaedra onwards, the sound becomes more rhythmic-electronic.
