Then I remind those who wish to make use of reading this page that the definition of music, at least etymologically speaking, aligns with the concept of melody, or rather, harmony. The Art of the Muses was expressed through harmonious sound. Orpheus tamed the beasts with the "melodious" sound of the lyre. This is to provide a facetious and absurdly mythical-etiological example, but suffice it to say that up until the end of the nineteenth century, there were never people who took it upon themselves to call music - a thing that Cage later did - the act of banging pots and pans with various tools and utensils. Only in modern times, starting from the last century, at the hands of Stocco, Cage, and company, has the meaning of music been extended, with a broader definition that also includes certain ruminations related to "sound" more than to the art of the Muses. But "music" is something else. A necessary distinction for those who might be turning in their graves. Great Luca :)
