Edith Piaf The Voice Of The Sparrow: The Very Best Of Edith Piaf

The possible dissertations on the absolute value of Edith Piaf's song are pointless: this music exists elsewhere, in a place far removed from the pages of musical criticism. I remember Mon Manège à Moi among others.

Yes, but it’s not clear what new age is today. There are two certainties: 1) The forerunners were the krautrockers like Schulze, Czukay, and Froese; 2) certain meditative electronic music by artists like Cretu of Enigma and Kitaro definitely fits that mold; for the rest, a lot of uncertainty. My personal view is that the quintessential kosmische musik of the origins is not new age: for reasons of musical signature (MCMXC AD by Cretu - listen to it! - has nothing to do with Cyborg, for instance) and for chronological reasons; the search for the "new age" of spirituality, leading to the forging of the new-age culture, was a phenomenon of the early '80s that developed in America: the Germans are therefore the progenitors, if anything. Lightwave, then? What a dilemma. They could chronologically fit into this affair, but in my view the reference is to TD and Schulze of the early days. So it’s not new age, it lacks the musical motivations of the productions from the '80s and '90s by Cretu and Kitaro. And what about the second phase of Schulze and TD? Ah, another dilemma. Let's say that having taken on the characteristics of the new-age music of the '80s, which they themselves helped to shape, they are new age. Personal opinions.

No, I didn't say it with all this disgust. First of all, I was talking about the latest production from the TD: that's bad new-age, just like there is bad rock, bad jazz, bad blues. It’s also true that I tend to denigrate the term a bit, due to the meaning it has taken on from the mouths and hands of some fans of the worst chill-out out there. Then I really dislike new-age culture, so I often struggle to distinguish between the two levels: lifestyle and musical style. But I like authors who fall into that context (of course, only on a musical level). You went and picked Roach (it's a much more complex matter, and you know it), I’m telling you worse: Cretu. In my opinion, he has his undeniable talents. Then of course, distinctions must be made.

This is hard to find! It's incredible how the LW were able to reinterpret the cosmic sound in such a captivating way in the '90s, at the peak of Schulze and Tangerine Dream's weariness (in the most embarrassing magma of New Age). Isidò, put aside your rebellious rocket ships for a moment and immerse yourself in the cosmic whispers! Start with "Tycho Brahe", then "Mundus Subterraneus". You won't regret it.

Oh my God! No, I'm not the devil! It's a cliché! Maronn, you sisters terrify me! How many of you are there? Is it true what they say...? That you eat human flesh and practice pagan cults? Please... don't do me any harm!
