I agree with RingoStarfish, although The Life Pursuit disappointed me a little. It’s a step back from Dear Catastrophe Waitress.

I may have hazy memories, but I remember it as the worst album by the Cure up to that point. Then even worse ones came out.

Oh my goodness, how beautiful this album is. It's a shame about those random noises that sometimes clash with its singer-songwriter nature. But the talent is there.

Having only a greatest hits of the Cure is not only limiting, it's penalizing. Because if fans were to decide on a greatest hits of the Cure, we'd end up with at least four or five albums, each different from the other. It would be like summarizing the Bible in ten pages. Impossible.
Phil Collins Face Value
Voto:
Phil Collins has managed to make himself somewhat hated by everyone. This is where his artistic downfall begins. However, the financial return is heavenly. They say he has retired from public life. Thank goodness!

A record I’ve never really considered seriously, but I think it has its own charm (as you rightly describe). I have the subsequent The Great Destroyer and although everyone seems to like it a bit, it leaves me quite indifferent. As soon as I can, I’ll go get it.
Pavlov's Dog Pampered Menial

A misunderstood masterpiece of progressive rock but quite different from the Anglo-Saxon styles, in the sense that it is an album that has grace and measure and is not a mere exercise in style typical of many bands of the period. The opening track "Julia" is a song that should be listened to at least once in a lifetime. Highly recommended even for those who love slightly hard territories.

Nice album, but the previous one "Sempre più vicini" seems definitely better to me. One of the many Italian bands that didn’t reap what they sowed. In fact, they broke up.

Great album. I have it on vinyl, which means I’m over "forty" and it breaks my heart to realize that there are only a few of us left who still BUY records. To enjoy the human interaction with the shopkeeper and, why not, to get angry every time I can’t find what I’m looking for. Times are changing and I’ve even read somewhere that the CD (I mean the physical format) has its time counted. We’ll see: what’s certain is that record stores are closing and those few still open are increasingly becoming "pausini-fied." Fortunately, at least for now, the web exists. The fact is that music as it was understood about twenty years ago hardly exists anymore. I know this has nothing to do with the review, but since I’m desperately looking for a few records and can’t find them, and then in these reviews I read "albums to download," well...

I've seen the records you comment on (since you don't really review them), and musically speaking, I have to acknowledge that we live at opposite ends. Maybe that's why we don't get along. Augh!
