Afghan Whigs Gentlemen

Well, Gentlemen, it's not an album that's particularly complicated to assimilate... it's an album to fall in love with instantly! There are artists (Elend, Kellhaul, Arcturus... the list is huge) that even need several weeks to be properly absorbed! I'm glad you agree with me... The Afghan Whigs are one of those bands that inspire me... how should I say... "admiration"? Not many bands enjoy this particular devotion of mine, even among those I love the most. A band can appeal to me a lot, but if it "strikes" me, then I end up admiring it beyond just the musical aspect (this happens even with bands I don't particularly love). Two clear examples for me are My Dying Bride and Zao. It's not something I decide. That riff in "Be Sweet" made them worthy of this particular "admiration" of mine, that's all. I can't explain this feeling in words. It's a very personal matter.

Anyway, anyone who has read "Politics as a Vocation" by Max Weber understands how Francis has devoted himself body and soul to the "ethics of principles" with this review (though it's not necessarily the best one). It was the motto of the Futurists: "If the world doesn't understand us... so much the worse for the world!". Honor to him.

But in this album, are there any songs of his or is he just an interpreter? Anyway, if we believe the website The History Of Rock Music... "Too many of his songs are flat, not original, lacking intensity. It feels like listening to Tim Buckley (the father) from his commercial period, now devoid of ideas."

Francis: you talk nonsense, but I have to admit that you write very well.
Caz: just know that for me, you are a legend, that’s all you need to know. Damn, you’re awesome.

Dear Francis, you got it all wrong. Deicide are one of those bands that don't reflect on their lyrics and use blasphemy for purely trivial commercial purposes. Not to mention metaphors for social rebellion.

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned (I'm speaking solely for myself, okay), the greatest moment of ecstasy in this album came with McCollum's guitar (I believe) in "Be Sweet," right after Dulli finishes saying "to fuck..."—a distorted riff, just a few seconds, and it’s the best thing I could have listened to in the entire 90s rock scene. Phenomenal, to say the least. An incredible album. And "Be Sweet" is and will always be my favorite, indescribable. It brought me back to the good times of 5 years ago, when I was listening to the Smashing Pumpkins... Only that the Afghans are better.

Dear Children, this is not death metal, but rather "melodic death metal." Be careful, the difference is vast.

Yes, but let's not exaggerate. Gentleman, I was already thinking of getting it, but I don't really care much about Congregation... anyway, I'll still consider it... Maybe I'll download it...

X Logic: Italian is a language that doesn't really get along with rock and metal, for a purely technical-musical reason... And then it's the international language, translatable by everyone, and bands from any nation use it, whether they are German, Italian, Swedish, or Indonesian. Think, for example, of Tenhi, who sing in Finnish and had to translate the lyrics into English in the booklet for everyone to understand... And then if you listen to the last track of the album, you'll notice that there are parts sung in Italian...

Mom, what a spectacular album... But it's not fair, I wanted to make it myself!!!!!!!! Listen to the national anthem of Mameli in the background during the intro...
