Don. Is it that of a priest or that of a mafia boss? Don Caballero. A name like that cannot go unnoticed. A collection of singles. Maybe. I think no one can notice it unless they read it somewhere, like I did. There's a terrifying unity of intent in this album that permeates every note, making it almost impossible for me to believe it's a compilation. It seems to make little sense to call it that. Come on. How can you call them "singles"?

An album like this is a flow that holds value in its unity, in its winding flashes of light, timing that enters the soul, a slurred bass that disconnects you from reality. I am not joking. Singles. Come on now.
This will probably be one of my shortest reviews. Simple. Don Caballero's music is like that, simple. A paradox? No, think about it. The apocalyptic contortions of "Lucky Father Brown" can give you goosebumps, totally engaging you. They have a mask of complexity, with instruments interlocking like a Rubik's cube. But in the intentions, in the way Don Caballero manages to take you with them without letting go (no matter what you're thinking or living at that moment) there's an impressive simplicity. Where billions of bands get lost in a cloud of smoke accomplishing very little, they go straight to the point, no frills. As complex as they are simple. Again? I could give many other examples, as many as the songs contained here. "Unresolved Kharma"? All I can say is that in a logical, uniform chain, tremendously engaging and disarming in its unity of intent, different feelings coexist, often contrasting, with, I repeat, a unique simplicity, now rare.

Why have I, terribly verbose, decided to write such a "short" (almost) review for an album on which I could spend millions of words? This album does not need to be reviewed. It's a uniform mass of music, pure music, for connoisseurs. You can't explain what you feel listening to it... Except for an incredible pleasure, which I wouldn't advise you to miss for anything in the world. A hallucinatory simplicity, no matter how daunting and complicated they may seem.
Simply elegant, refined, visionary
. Simply IMMENSE.

A tip: listen to it on a quiet sunny spring morning; it can make life seem more beautiful. At least... it happened to me. I will never thank them enough.
