My Dying Bride Like Gods of the Sun

It's a nice and really well-written review, but I give the album a 3 because it disappointed me a lot too. However, for certain gems it contains, I can't go lower with the rating. It's not that great anyway; "the dreadful hours" and "the angel" ... are obviously in another universe. But why am I saying this? You surely know it too!! :-) Cheers, and reopen the blog!!

really strong 2 reviews by the same author on the same album, never seen before! strong though, come on, even if maybe we should write things with less fervor and more ratio!

Welcome back, Fidia! Am I wrong or has it been a while since we last heard from you? As usual, your (excellent, of course) reception, I don't know them.

I don't care whether it's a duplicate or not; if the review is well-written, that's great. There's been a lot of talk about the title track of this album, rightly so, as its beauty overshadows the other songs, which are objectively several steps down. Alan's, by the way, has never been performed live (except for very rare occasions), both because it's difficult to reproduce and because (perhaps) it has never fully convinced even the Floyd themselves. As for the others, "If" is really beautiful, "Fat Old Sun" and "Summer"... a little less so. I rate the last two a 3.5, Alan a 3, "If" a 4, and the title track a 5, giving a total of four clean.

It's a bit long, but I won't criticize you for that because I can be long-winded too... I know the CD and I have it, but I’ve never liked it; it disappointed me a lot because I was hoping for heavier atmospheres. Compared to AFI (see December Underground), they really fall short. Bye!

"not to present either the title or the band's monicker, a sign of great self-confidence on their part, now certain that their music alone is enough to make them unmistakable"... it reminds me of a part of my thesis, when I talked about the Stones' second album (if I'm not mistaken)!! :-)

I've never been able to find it for sale anywhere... what a shame because I've always been interested in it!
