The Black Heart Procession Three
Voto:
I instead, given that the maximum unmatched BHP is "2", invite you to listen to the collaboration with Soulbakken from the "In the Fishtank" series, which is, after 2, the most beautiful thing our people have recorded. Frankly, I prefer the first. The last two between 6 and 7.
Black Mountain In the Future
Voto:
Tyrants is truly spine-chilling, an absolute masterpiece, while Bright Lights is pretentious and excessive, bordering on kitsch... inconclusive...
Agalloch Pale Folklore
Voto:
Bravo Hell, this time you really nailed the assessment of the platter and I too agree with a 5. One cannot help but give top marks to the Fulls of Agalloch; however, you didn’t even mention (nor did anyone in the comments) the black metal component, subtle yet decisive in the unique blend of this great band. For instance, the whispered scream, so personal, of Haughm can only be considered rooted in black metal. For me, the best is The Mantle, then the latest, and then this one, but they are all masterpieces.
Mark Lanegan Field Songs
Voto:
For me, however, it is the best (even though the highest peaks are in Whiskey) alongside the beautiful collection of covers that preceded it. A Lanegan less hallucinatory and dramatic, but more bitterly reflective, resignedly melancholic, at peace in a nostalgic-rural yearning. Kimiko dream's house is the best of the bunch for me.
Nachtmystium Assassins: Black Meddle Part 1
Voto:
Well, definitely a good album, although I preferred the previous Instinct: Decay; but to categorically claim that this is the "best black metal album in a decade, without fear of exaggerating," the statement with which the review closes seems to me to be, indeed, just an unjustifiable exaggeration for at least two reasons: one formal, in fact the platter in question cannot be considered strictu sensu "black metal," the other content-related because it doesn't seem to me that there is more musical content than, for example, in the last 3 albums by Deathspell Omega, or even by an Om by Negura Bunget. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Darkspace Darkspace III
Voto:
Sorry Hell, but I don't like this way of setting up the review: it forgets the theme, which is the description of the OBJECT. The digressions and feelings are fine, but only after giving at least an idea of the genre and content of the album in question. As for musical tastes, you and I are sufficiently aligned; I have listened to all three Darkspace CDs, and this latest one is, besides being the worst, the least suitable to support the description you grace it with. At certain points, it’s even "catchy," especially the third track. In my ranking, the best is definitely II, the most avant-garde, extensive, both noise and ambient at the same time. This seems to me a rehash (even in the structure) of the first one, with better production but also less genius and (necessarily) originality. That it's still a great album is beyond doubt. Stay in black.

Well, I also disagree with the content at this point; I think you understand little (also) about music... and yet they tell me you’re a good drummer.

My dear, the fact is that I’ve read (a lot) of Lester Bangs (RIP), despite your assumption to the contrary... but he wrote much better than you. As for the dialectic of form and content, I believe they are inextricably connected. Anyway, I too am in favor of placing more emphasis on "content"; I just wanted to say that with your "style," you tire out quite a bit those who read you and give rise to misunderstandings in the understanding of the text, that's all; because instead of getting angry a priori, why not do a little self-criticism? Perhaps you could improve the level of your reviews.

The content of the review might be acceptable... but how poorly you write... an archaic, laborious, and convoluted style, alliterative (makes you think), (comes out when it comes out), and poorly constructed (I couldn't even think about listening),(in that celebration of pointless form). A style twisted upon itself that knows neither sobriety nor elegance, chaotic, and makes reception quite difficult for the reader. Try to be more straightforward.
Esoteric The Pernicious Enigma (disc 1)
Voto:
I will never be able to understand or appreciate certain reviews that say nothing about the subject in question (Esoteric - The Pernicious Enigma) and that would be better suited for a philosophy forum.
Let's return to reality, please; then, fine with all the interpretations you want, but first the description of the matter.
