Howe was a virtuoso both on electric and acoustic guitar. Wilson is an excellent composer (in this respect undoubtedly superior) but not a hero-guitarist of Howe's caliber. Nor does he remind me much of Howe's style, in my opinion: I sense more of a Gilmour influence or, at best, an affinity to Hackett's lyricism, still far from the baroque, furious, and sometimes dissonant phrasing (Sound Chaser) alternating with scales played at supersonic speed (Heart of the Sunrise), of the Legendary Yes.
I still agree that we shouldn't get caught up in sterile, technical arguments that often end up being pointless (if not worse), but in this case, a clarification was necessary. That's all.
Tool 10.000 Days

Tool are not among my favorite bands, I admit that. I rarely put on Lateralus, Aenima is better in that regard... but this one... yes, mystical is the right term. In short, they've entered my heart; they've made a less convoluted album than usual (especially compared to Lateralus, its capital sin). They may have darkened their sound, but in a meditative way, as strongly indicated by the splendid artwork. The references to the energy levels of the chakras are evident.
The review is good and precise.
Mind you, I'm not saying that Aenima and Lateralus are not valid; it's just that subjectively, I like this one much more, all while they remain masterpieces.
I want to highlight the great performance (The Pot) by Justin Chancellor on bass!

Great review for a fantastic album. I've already listened to it three times, and I have to say it's a masterpiece; the only flaw is that, in the long run - and it is very long - it can become a bit tedious and tiring.
However, the experience is definitely worth it!
I particularly liked the statement about the "oppiate" sound of Cult of Luna. It shows a significant level of experience and is profoundly true. In fact, it's not a "lysergic" album, too structurally static... but fantastic... by the way, who can give me an evaluation of this CD in relation to Beyond?
Thanks.

Damn, what a reception lately...we're at the level of a treatise here...but to even compare the guitar techniques of Wilson to Howe...I mean, do you guys remember Siberian Khatru and Mood for a Day??!
Porcupine Tree Stupid Dream

One of the most beautiful reviews I've read on Debaser. Stupid Dream, which I believe aims to be a reference to the "Stupid dream" of resurrecting Progressive, I'm missing it, but I will make up for it soon thanks to you, Shine.
