I don't think I'll listen to this album, but the review is filled with grammatical HORRORS. A quick check never hurts. And to think that that sellout Brian May participated in this album... worse than Hamsik.

"reminding me of the ELO from the seventies": if they remember the ones from "No Answer", "Eldorado" and... let's throw in "Out Of The Blue" just to be kind... then maybe I’ll give it a listen. Even though it will still be a blow to the heart.

A must-listen.

It's fine like this. There's no need to describe an album with a track-by-track comparison or a boring contextualization of the work within the historical period or similar things. A review like this is perfectly acceptable, as it accurately describes what this album represents.
Muse The Resistance

Terrible. Really terrible. Unnecessarily cloying and derivative, this album falls flat precisely when it tries to "show off." Coincidentally, the best tracks are the ones Muse have accustomed us to: the simple ones. Like the very same "Resistance." Never liked it, just like the previous one. Showbiz and Origin remain the best-crafted and most inspired works.

"a work that, although inevitably sounding seventies". NO, unless you've listened to the original version (which few will have done, given the unavailability of this record). Antonio Bartoccetti, in fact, had the brilliant idea to heavily remix the reissues of the first Jacula album and many subsequent albums (which did not happen for the second Jacula, Tardo Pede in...); the result is that the sounds of the album have been heavily altered, making it SOUND MORE RECENT than it actually is, with 80s-style drums, boosted riffs, etc... a testament from Bartoccetti himself.

I read that even the digital reprints turned out badly, in the sense that the guitars sound heavily distorted, while in the original vinyl they sound clearer and more straightforward... well, I’ll have to listen to them to see what they’re made of.

@Piero Scaruffi: you could have also mentioned the "series of sketches" and "worthy parody of Frank Zappa" XD Anyway, Queen II, aside from a few episodes to erase, is even better than this one... too bad about useless songs like "Loser In The End" and "Funny How Love Is"... Anyway Lemmon, if you haven't already, listen to Moon In June by the Soft Machine and then tell me what you think of Bohemian Rhapsody :D

I never wanted to listen to this album, and I don't think I ever will. I think it's something that would make even the latest albums by Deep Purple pale in comparison... or am I wrong?

A genius and a con artist at the same time. His early albums, incredibly rare and distributed only to various religious sects, have been reissued both on CD and Vinyl, with the addition of "modern" effects to make the sound of the record seem innovative for a year like '69. It's a pity that Bartoccetti himself has confirmed the addition of entirely new effects in the reissues. As a result, the remastered stuff by Jacula IS NOT WHAT it actually is, but a kind of remix.
