Bullet For My Valentine are the only Emo band that matters... maybe it’s because they are much more metal-oriented... maybe it’s because they have catchy melodies... maybe it’s because in their simplicity they have appealing hooks, and with impactful songs they manage to take the listener well beyond the first listen...

As a fan of Genesis, I recommend The Tangent, who bring those sounds into the nu jazz of our times... Porcupine Tree is a band that has evolved to be considered metal (even if just on the fringes). Ark (album Burn The Sun) is my preferred example of classic Progressive Metal... so much class... genius... unpredictable... Fates Warning's A Pleasant Shade Of Grey is incredibly refined, or Pain Of Salvation's Perfect Element, which is outside the box...

Beautiful album...less genius than Tuonela...more massive...songs that are quite similar to each other, but really classy arrangements and, in short, plenty of Finland, a progressive Metal that's beyond the norm...

Beautiful power disc... I also appreciate Stratovarius and the early Helloween... but when Jorn Lande is involved, it's a different story... a supreme singer... adorable with Ark on stage... a prog band with a front-man who's half blackster and half glamster...

I only know the first album (a power metal record that has something to say), I love Lande's voice...perhaps the best singer in the Prog/Heavy/Power scene...he brings everyone together...his best work is found in Burn The Sun, the masterpiece by Ark...one of the ten must-have prog albums (even from the '70s)...I recommend listening to both that masterpiece and the debut of the good Masterplan...
