Oasis (What's the Story) Morning Glory?

"We send the stupid to Cottolengo, and the genius gets the grade they deserve. It sounds like a pretty logical concept to me." Ezekiel, I would make you spend a few days at Cottolengo. Choose your words carefully, because based on how you express your thoughts, one would say that you have quite a few prejudices (not just musical ones). I can assure you that a teacher is happier to give a 7 to someone like you call "fool" who gives their best, rather than a 10 to a "consistent" genius. You've only reviewed historic albums (and left a more than accurate judgment in the end), but honestly, I am eagerly waiting for the moment you review something "new" to see a bit how and with what grade you "wrap up" the discussion...

Ok...thank you so much. But what genre do they play? However, I think I won't have much time to listen to them as well, since in a week I will be receiving (through rather obscure channels) as many as 15 albums!!! And I really think I'm screwed since I will have to review almost all of them! It's either too much or nothing ; P
Thanks anyway!!

I'm sorry, but what the hell does that have to do with anything?!? So should we give Revolver a 12? Of course, Ezekiel, I know that too, but it's undeniable that in that context, i.e. the mid-nineties during a musical period in England known as Britpop (I repeat, pop not experimental, doom, electronic, etc., we are talking about, albeit excellent, pop music), this album was objectively the best. Then, Molko, if we want to compare a repeated acoustic guitar riff in E-minor for 10 songs (which are excellent, though...) with OK Computer, then I know there’s no comparison. But accepting Morning Glory for what it is, i.e. a great pop album, the numbers add up... at least in my opinion... everything is relative, isn’t it?

I'm sorry "damas" but I just can't relate to your review. For me, this album is simply beautiful. A must-have at all costs because it represents a (albeit minuscule) small step forward compared to The Last B, while still staying within the typical depression setting of the Doves. The sequence track 1 track 2 is perfect; I haven’t listened to a single album this year that manages to engage you at the beginning more than this.

excellently written review: you describe them perfectly. However, the album doesn’t quite match my tastes. And I don’t like the blues played this way. I perhaps prefer the shit-wave indie rock clone.
True similarities with the Datsuns.
Stereophonics Language. Sex. Violence. Other?

So... The Stereophonics with Word Gets Around made a more than decent debut towards melodic and easy-going punk. Then there was the true gem of the group, namely Performance and Cocktails, which is an incredibly well-produced and arranged album. After that, two musical disasters like we hadn't heard in a long time, and now this, which is surely their best after the second one. The use of electronics hasn't devalued them but rather enhanced and saved them from the abyss (see the identical path of the Placebo: good debut on the edge of garage; musical pearl; shit album; lifesaving album and career with a boost from electronics). The drummer who used to just bash on the cymbals like even the blonde guy from the Foo Fighters has been kicked out, and now they have a sound that rocks. I'm happy. Because I thought they were finished too. Devil is simply beautiful.
