mmh, I agree with you about black, albums like Transilvanian Hunger, Nattens Madrigal, or Stormblast that are well-produced might actually be worse.

Yeah, raw and ignorant disco, that's how I want it. I understand the 5 for what the record signifies, but I prefer to evaluate it solely from a musical standpoint, which means it's little technical and underdeveloped, even though you can already hear hints of what would later become Death about ten years later.

Technique? Well, to be honest, they were a bit of a letdown; you can tell from the persistently simple riffs and the absence of solos of any kind, unless you consider Murphy's "capatine" (which are nice, though). Personally, I don't think technique is really the strong suit of Obituary. This might be my favorite album, released a bit more mature than the first *Slowly We Rot* (a masterpiece of rawness), but not enough to have already transformed everything into the muddy, almost concrete, doom-like riffing that characterizes the following albums (which are still excellent, with *The End Complete*, the historic one from the second period, being the standout). Review as usual.

I'm getting the CD, great review, even though I don't agree with the connection between the lyrics and the political context; if it wasn't meant to be ironic, I honestly didn't get it. Also, in my opinion, bad production usually tends to kill the bass—first reason being that if you're not careful, it muddies with the kick drum sound. Take Individual, Focus, Elements Of Anger, and especially Elements—all amazing productions where the bass is crystal clear, or even, in the last case, dominates.

I just got back from Amsterdam, that's why I haven't commented on the reviews, a bit of catching up and I'll be there.
