Yes, really good, it's just that they have nothing to do with death metal anymore, better Emergent than the first one, and then damn there's a certain drummer (Bill Bruford).

Who is the thrash metal guitarist? Come on, Kirk "pentatonic" Hammett is a good guitarist, but nothing special. Just compare him to Mustaine, Dimebag, or even just Hanneman.

Usually, to avoid the topic, I say that Araya is the SINGER of Slayer, and from there you can imagine; the statement implies that Araya cannot be fully considered a bassist, a technique that is adequate for Slayer's bass, which is lower than average punk, and that's saying a lot about how low it is. There's no creativity since he neither composes nor does anything that deviates even slightly from the fundamentals of guitar lines. Let's just say he's a great thrash voice and THAT'S IT.

So: they sign a contract for three albums, write the first two with the first bassist Roger Patterson, record the first one, Patterson dies, they record the second (already written) with Tony Choy, and then they decide to break up, but the record label forces them with legal threats to do the lyrics, and in a month these guys put together and record this masterpiece.
