Thank goodness you didn't put 2: it could have been seen as a blemish, like that madman who smashed a hammer into a work by Michelangelo. ;-) Yes, it’s a transitional album, but towards nothingness, towards that abyss that would soon draw Jim in.

If any friend is enticed by the review enough to get the CD, then the purpose of the review is achieved. If they also agree with the judgment and share the same emotions, it truly is the best outcome.

I quote Sylvian and Hal. I also confess that I have a good memory of "Making Movies." And then there's that single "Money for Nothing" that caught my attention back then.

Are you going to Piazza de' Martiri? Who knows, maybe we could meet there sometime; we could also have a hot sfogliata at the café inside: cheers to Hip Hop. :-)

It drove me crazy back then, but I'm still attached to it today. At thirteen, I was so absorbed that I moved in bursts. :-)

"Infected" is my favorite, but Matt Johnson is further proof of the not inferior quality of '80s music.

We were talking about music from the big leagues, of course; I know there’s another rap scene out there, even though I’m not an expert, but the comparison was between chart-topping groups from the two decades. I don’t really agree with the idea that De La Soul have "aged poorly": they are a group that still has something to teach today, especially when it comes to sampling choices.

What should I do now? I know nothing about the group, even though I have "People Are..." (nice) by Sophia. For the sake of consistency with what I've said in the past, I shouldn't vote for the review, but I let the professor in me take over and resolve it. ;-)

I DE La Soul, RUN D.M.C.... still agree: today there is much more homogenization.
Do you turn off the fireplace? ;-)

I completely agree; but even in the realm of more "pure" pop, there are artists and groups that, in my opinion, are of absolute value: the many jazzy groups like, indeed, Style Council and Working Week; the "Scots," from Danny Wilson, which I've mentioned on DeBaser, to Aztec Camera, not to forget the exceptional Prefab Sprout. I'll tell you that even an artist as unpleasant and egocentric as Prince stands out like a giant, not certainly for his height, when compared to some of the more famous names in today's black music.
